I'm 16 and I AM OVERWEIGHT and it's to the unhealthy point... I am disgusted with myself. I weigh [don't tell anyone] 175 pounds and I'm only 5'4" see my dilemma? For my age and height, I should weigh 115 pounds and that's what I'm shooting for... how many calories should I consume each day and what kind of workouts can I do AT HOME without equipment that will help me reach this goal and that are quick because [I don't have a lot of free time between work and school] Would walking my dog everyday for 1 hr be enough?PLEASE HELP!
By the way, I have ALWAYS been a small girl. The thing is, I have asthma and I had a serious attack and they put me on a medicine [while I was in the hospital] at an extremely rare and high dose [and then I had to decrease little by little] to control my attack and it made me gain a shitload of weight so it's not like I got this way for just being lazy [although I'm not just blaming the medicine] Please help me so that I can get back to my regular small self!

They say, a person needs approx 15 calories per pound of body weight, to maintain your weight and not gain or loose. So if you want to weigh 115 lbs, than eat like an 115 lb person. That is, 115x15= 1725 calories. Kind of a neat guideline.
Then, save your money and avoid fade diets. Your better off learning the caloric value of foods and create your own diet.
By the way, you can blame a lot of it on the medication. It was most likely a steroid, and they are notorious for causing weight gain. Good luck.
And walking your dog for an hour would be excellent.

Don't count calories. Just eat healthy foods and give up all junk food and soda pop. Drink lots of water and an occasional diet soda. Switch to skim milk and go easy on the carbs. That means less pasta, potatoes, bread and all sweets. Eat more raw vegetables and fresh fruits when you want a snack.
Eat 5-6 times a day instead of three large meals. Don't skip breakfast. When you skip breakfast it leads to overeating the rest of the day.
Walking your dog an hour everyday is a good chance to exercise. When school gets out you will have more time to exercise. Go for more walks or ride a bike, shoot baskets, swim or anything to keep moving. Don't lay around and watch TV or be on the computer too much this summer. Take advantage of your time off to exercise. Housework is a very good workout. Help your mom around the house by vacuuming, doing laundry etc. You can even do some yard work if you have a yard. There are lots of things you can do to stay active and it all helps to lose weight. Good luck, you can do it.

I am also 5'4" and I want to lose 15 pounds. I would agree that 1200 cal a day is good, to lose fast. The more you weigh, the faster it will come off. Once you start to get to your ideal weight, the slower it will take, so be patient. As far as exercising, I don't do it since I already am running around at work, but you are young and have a high metabolism, just walk your dog like mentioned. Walking is the best anyways. Good luck, just make sure you don't intake more than say 2200 cal a day if you count, in order to lose....hope this helped :)

Hmm...I don't think you can lose that much weight by September without gaining it all back quickly...plus you can have some skin sagging by losing the weight so quickly. If you lose it slowly then the skin won't sag.
Anyways, to really answer your question, you have to go on a strict diet. No carbs, no soda, no fruit juices, no fried foods or fast food, no deli meat, no junk food, lots of fresh veggies, more fruit (but not as much as veggies), burn at least 700 additional calories a day... this really looks like hell to be honest. lol. I don't really know what else to say.

you got a lotta work to do, but u can do it. first of all, yes, walk ur dog as much as you can, and try to keep it a brisk walk. dont eat fried foods at all, never ever! and also don't drink nondiet sodas, and limit yourself to one diet soda a day, though ud be better off drinking only water. try to limit ur sweets, maybe stick to lowfat pudding snacks. no white bread, no white rice, minimal potatoes, minimal beef, minimal cheese and mayo, use 1% milk, eat only grilled or baked lean meats like chicken and fish, eat small meals 5 times a day, get enough protein and healthy carbs. snack on fruit and carrots, eat oatmeal with banana or something in it for breakfast, it will fill u up
good luck, i kno u can do this :)
