I agree with your thoughts, in general, but not in practise. If you were going to be in a clinic in India and never go anywhere it would be fine. Many doctors go to foreign countries to continue study. The US has many cancer centers and medical people from around the world come to study. The common language used is English. The better versed you are in English when you start, the more you will learn. If youwait to study in English until you start advanced studies you will have many translation difficulities.
This does agree with your first question. Yes you can learn easier in your native language. To learn in a foreign language setting you must be very well versed in that language too.

English has become the language to learn. It once was French, because it was the language of culture. But, today, commerce is what everyone is interested in, and English has emerged as the language of business. I have been to over 3 dozen foreign countries, and everywhere I go, someone there speaks English. It's just about as difficult a language you can learn. The grammar is full of irregularities, and the spelling makes no sense whatsoever. But, there it is and we have to do what we can. My grandfather was a proponent of a movement for a world language called Esperanto. It was an interesting experiment, but never caught on.

It depends on the course of study, I would imagine. If you're in a business field, it would be beneficial to know English and Japanese. If you're in a medical field in the US, English and Spanish would be good to know.
I think, if I understand right, India is encouraging citizens to speak English, because they do so much business with the US.

But many terms are not translated into Indian languages.I have been doing assessingof answer-books in Engineering Geology. If students want to keep themselves abreast of level of good knowledge, it ought to be learnt in English language.

Categoryze your question accordingly. (You have placed the question under cancer).
Language is not a barrier for your development and there are lot of examples of scientist who don't know english.
You can still find people in Japan, German prefers their own language and they are high in the scientific world.
