Pleurisy Symptoms
You can have many symptoms with pleurisy.
Chest pain: This is the most common symptom. The pain can be a dull ache, a burning sensation, or a sharp, stabbing discomfort. It is usually worse when you take a deep breath, cough, or move around. The pain is usually better if you take shallow breaths or lie on the side that hurts. Chest pain is what usually causes people with pleurisy to seek medical attention.
Cough: You may get a cough, depending on the cause of the pleurisy. Your cough may be dry or productive of sputum or blood.
Shortness of breath: The shortness of breath associated with pleurisy may be due to the underlying cause, such as a blood clot in the lungs or pneumonia, or it may be due to the chest pain caused by breathing.
Fever: You may also get a fever, depending on the cause of the pleurisy.

I wonder if it might be a partially collapsed lung? It sometimes happens from injuries, but I've also heard of it being caused by a buildup of gas that leaked into the ribcage and formed a bubble beneath the lung, making it unable to expand fully. Have you had a fever at all, or shortness of breath? Those are some of the signs. Definitely go to the doctor, and try to avoid heavy lifting, running, or anything that'll strain your abdominals or cause you to breathe more heavily.
Could also be agitation to the cartilage between your ribs, now that I think of it. A friend of mine was lying on the floor and a little kid fell onto him (they were playing around) and it caused the cartilage to swell and impede his heart and lungs. Didn't know it was possible til it happened.

It could be a number of things. If breathing and coughing cause the pain to increase, but not moving or stretching, then chances are whatever your problem is, it is related to your lungs. Is a cough another symptom?????
It could be to many things to mention, but Goggle "pleurisy" and see if that fits. And I hope your appointment is soon. "Getting worse", is never good.

Could be something as simple as a pulled muscle. if you've got high blood pressure or a history of heart problems, I'd go ahead and go to the hospitals convenient care or call the patient advisory nurse. good luck, hope you wind up okay

it sounds like it is lung related, but it could also be muscular.
there are alot of different reasons for chest pain, so with the information you gave, it is hard to pinpoint.
if you smoke, that is your first clue that it is probably lung related.
if you do not, but are active, or prone to injury, then it may be a muscle issue.
