which speed is slower when taping SP or LP

the tape turns more slowly in lp mode so it crams more into less space. the pic quality lessens but not too badly

If you mean miniDV, SP is standard and recommended for any video that might need to be edited. LP is slower but playback is not guaranteed except from the camera that recorded it making it impossible to edit.

If you mean VHS, SP is standard and recomended for any video that might need to be edited. LP is slower and not implemented on many home players and not used on ANY professional video editing decks. SLP or EP is the slowest speed and editing is not always successful but possible on some pro-sumer decks

Always record in SP mode! SP gives you the best results! the problem with LP Mode is that it can and will stretch your tape! in time your tape will stretch and snap! this mode is not recommended! especially if it's a very important tape!
