im 15 1/2 years old 5'5 weighing 175 and i wanna start weight lifting soon and i dnt think i had my growth spurt yet. will the weights slow my growth by any chance or shud i wait till im 16

If you want to start lifting weights, start out slowly. At your age you should not try to max out with heavy weights because this could be harmful. It won't stunt your growth but your bones and muscles may not be developed enough to handle the pressure. I would recommend doing activities in which you lift your own body weight, such as dips, pullups, pushups, toe raises. You could also use dumbells with a comfortable weight or machine weights. I would just keep the weight light until you know for sure you have reached puberty. On your next doctor visit, ask them if they think you are ready to start serious weight lifting.

No, lifting weights will not slow your growth. This is a myth propogated by people who aren't educated about physiology. Many professional athletes, bodybuilders and powerlifters started much younger and are now well over six feet tall.

there is zero medical evidence that supports statements that resistance training stunts growth. medical study shows it has the exact opposite effect

the only bad exercise is the one that is performed improperly

yes i do think so, but it does not matter when you are going lift the weight...
