Until recently I was a small business owner (now retired). I employed an average of 33 people (F/PT).

I always checked identities, as best I could. But I always wondered about those identities. I could never find anything on those IDs (or with those IDs) that would lead me to believe they were not legitimate. So what is a small business owner (not wanting to hire any illegals) really to do? What resources are available that do not cost an arm and a leg and don't get an employer sued for sharing personally identifiable information under the right to privacy legislation?

I think we have an entire system (systems) in need of major over hauls.

Like so many problems, the illegal immigration problem could be very easily brought under control. The only reason it hasn't is because the people pulling the strings in Washington are satisfied with the status quo.

Yes.

But, to do that would be very expensive for both government (the Immigration Service checking every business in the US?? That would cost more money than the entire United States has in the first place) and the businesses themselves.

So, it will not happen.

Nope. They would hire American citizens and legal aliens and do one heck of a background check to make sure their credentials were legal! We should make it a law and we should also prosecute people who rent homes/apartments to illegals as well. If Americans couldn't profit from the illegals, they'd turn them in to Immigration!
