This is a good question. People must have very short memories if they can't remember what it felt like on 9/11 to see the loved ones that night on the news with the pictures of their missing family members. These terrorists will strike again, it's just a matter of when and how. I pray we don't get another President ala the first Clinton that believes these are just "police" problems. Like you can just investigate it and make arrests. It's a whole new (and ugly) world in this respect.
Add#2 I am horrified to see how many of these answers blame America. What, are we the great satan to you people too? If you really believe this nation is so evil, why do you continue to live here? When you ask why we don't fight in Iraq if we believe in this cause, I ask why don't you go fight with the terrorists if you believe in their cause. What a bunch of treasonous losers!!!!
***Add: we are fighting for the wrong reasons??? What??? Seeing 3,000 men, women and children murdered isn't a good reason in your view? Yes, yes, yes I know Iraq didn't attack us. But you don't think these are the same people who want to see Americans dead?

Because they are mindless idiots with so much freedom they don't understand there is a different way of life on this earth.
I don't think we need to fight as much as be prepared to fight, and be trained in our allegiance and the appropriateness of our actions.
It isn't "cool" to know and consort with the enemy, no matter how well known they are or how lavish their parties are. Clinton ruined a lot for America, because he was never military trained, and took illegal drugs openly and advocated it in the Washington D.C. area. He commiserated with Marion Barry when he did have to serve time for cocaine, and said it's too bad he got caught. Maybe it was too bad he did have to go to prison, although if he wants to use cocaine, please do this as a private person, don't represent our country.
Clinton really led this country astray for eight long years, and Bush has no desire to militarily lead us anyplace. Common sense says get people in there whom are more accepted globally, and with some intelligence other than partisanship.
Someone to keep the peace without worrying about what went on before.

There is an EXTREME amount of apathy.
There is an EXTREME amount of ignorance.
It is taboo for the press to discuss how ignorant we have become as a nation. Oh, they will run stories about the decline of education in America. However, nobody talks about the EXTREME level of ignorance in the United States. Because they do not, few people know how severe this problem is.
Many people have opinions, but a huge percentage of Americans are totally ignorant and lack the facts on important issues of the day.
It may not be politically correct to report this, but the press does our nation a huge injustice, and is making our nation less secure, by their failure to quantify and report on the severity of ignorance in America.

I guess they have that beauty pageant question mentality, where if you ask them what they want they answer "world peace", but don't think how to do it and what you have to do to get there.
If you asked them about Saddam for instance, they would say, "Oh Saddam really wants peace, he didn't mean to invade Kuwait and kill all those Kurds and fight Iraq and kill his own people. He didn't mean to raise his sons to be murderers and torturers and rapists. It's just part of their society and we have to respect that. And if we ask him really really nicely he will become this great guy."
Sorry, I work in a locked facility for juveniles and I work with 13 year old rapists and high school students who are pedaphiles so I don't have those kind of illusions. Some people will never reform. Even after lots of intensive treatment like 70% or more reoffend. Lots of people cannot be cured and that is the truth. And lots of people do not think they need fixing or want to be helped and would rather kill you and will if you even look at them funny.
Same thing goes for some governments.

Honestly, people need to feel accepted. And right now, it is popular to hate the war and war in general. Hell, if we transported this SAME society back to 1942, all we would hear is a bunch of anti-war banter and that it isn't OUR fight. These pieces of pig vomit that call themselves Americans do absolutely nothing but hold this country back. These f*ckers live in a magical fantasy land, where all your dreams come true and war is nonexistent. If anything, THEY will be the end of pax americana. GOD BLESS AMERICA, F*CK Pearl Jam, U2, Rolling Stone magazine, Howard Stern, and every other piece of sh*t that jumped on this bandwagon AFTER the war went bad. Get a life you bunch of pr*cks.

Correct, because we fear death, and they feel as if we fear death then they win. THey kill 3,000+ people with what? 18 people? We become fearful... Living in a fearful nation that votes for our right simply means that if they kill us we fall into this fear that we must vote for what the terrorist wants... Or another .03 of our population will die...
Overall... Terrorist kills people of a state to simply tell us that we must go against what they want us to go against. And if we were not to do so then they will do it again... So we fall into the state of mind that we must listen to the terrorists or we are all going to die.
THat is not the case though... There is no way they can defeat us if we always stay hostile to the enemy...
Hopefully this makes sense... I am a little drunk...

Agree, but maybe we need to shut our borders and stay home protecting Americans for a while and then pick up the pieces after everyone is done killing them-self in the rest of the world.

That is the question I keep asking myself. How could Americans forget 9/11? That is what islamic terrorists want to do to us again. If we don't suceed in Iraq, the same thing will happen in other cities.

Because reality is so frightening to liberals they avoid facing it by pretending there's no such thing as the need for war and death and scary stuff like that. You can't argue with a fool, and most liberals are just that.

Identifying who they are is a lot more difficult than the effort it takes to pull the trigger, or drop a cluster or nuclear bomb.
"Commander Guy" and his supporters have created more hate and more terrorists directing energy at us. We would have been safer with my lab sitting in his chair. By the way, you don't hear anyone protesting the fact that we are fighting in Afganistan...the "other war". The protests are for what we are doing in Iraq...stealing their oil, etc.
