There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

The way you can lighten up dark circles under your eyes, besides makeup, is by taking a lemon, slicing it up in a thin round circle, and placing them on top of your eyes. The lemon is a lightening agent, not a bleaching agent, but a lightening agent. It will lighten up anything dark on your skin. Whether it's dark circles, dark arm pits, dark knees, dark elbows, dark knuckles, ect. So, I suggest you, you use this method. It really does work, I've tried it before.

I guess It depends on what the circles are from. If they are from lack of sleep or stress, I highly reccomend a product mary kay makes called Indulge soothing Eye Gel. It has green tea and cucumber extracts that will cool, soothe, and take down dark puffy circles.
If the dark circles are from dryness, or hereditary. I reccomend using Mary kay's Firming eye creme. It is sooooo rich, and does WONDERS for the eyes! :)
I am sure you have been told that your eyes are much more delicate than the rest of your face, you should realy be treating the skin in your eye area with special products. Be sure you are also using an eye makeup remover, rather than your Face cleanser. This can make a huge difference to how your eyes age. :)
Hope that helps! :)

If you have always had them, there is nothing you can do to make them go away. There are products you can use for puffiness and swelling but if dark circles are genetic you can't change it. If you haven't always had them try drinking more water and eating less salty foods. Often times dark circle are associated to high salt intake. You can also try a gel based hydrating mask and keep it in your fridge. Use it on your eyes 2-3 times a week. This will not only help with the dark circles but for puffiness and swelling too.

Lie down, close your eyes and place cucumber slices on your eyes. Relax for at least 30 mins. Work wonders for tired eyes.
Lack of sleep can cause dark circles.

Cover your eyes with cotton soaked in lukewarm milk for 15 minutes everyday to remove the dark circles around your eyes or dip cotton pads into freshly extracted mint juice, flatten them and place them on closed eyelids for 10 to 15 minutes. tea bags work - but only the caffeinated ones. They constrict your capillaries. Cuke's only work to sooth, they do nothing for darkness, its a myth. Potato slices, however work, and they can sooth like cukes if you cool them. Be careful with the lemon not to get it in your eye. Other skin bleaching creams may work depending on the reason for your dark undereyes.

Preparation H.....not even kidding will do it. It reduces the puffiness/swelling that seems to cause circles.
Cold Tea bags work as well.
Also beauty rest, and some allergy medicine...if you have allergies ( its that time of the year).
