You cannot tell what the true feelings a girl has over the phone or e-mail or instant messenger. They say one thing, but they could be doing something else.
Girl: "I like you... but I'm busy doing homework today."
Guy: "Oh, next time then!" *thinks she likes him*
Girl: "I have to go, bye!"
Guy: "Bye!"
Girl: *closes her phone and then walks back into the bar where a guy takes tequila shots off her*
See where I'm getting at? Talk is cheap. How she acts and behaves around you, however, gets to the bottom of things. If you are face-to-face, you can see her body language that can suggest that she likes you. Like, she likes to touch you, or she laughs at your corny jokes, or she twirls her hair at you, or she leans in closer to you, or her pupils dilate, etc are all signs that a girl is interested in you.
So... arrange to meet to study, and watch closely to her body language. If two or more of those buying signals appears, ask her for her phone number and ask her out on a date a week after you get her number.

Sounds like she just wants to study. It's a pretty normal conversation to me. Hope this doesn't disappoint you. If you like her, then go ahead and be friends with her and wait.
