I have never heard of doing that, although I wouldn't doubt it if you could. A bottle of lotion will be about the same price as a leave in conditioner, so why not just go with what you know works. Conditioner is made for hair, and lotion is made for skin, I wouldn't take a chance, but it's your hair. Good Luck!

When I was young I used to have mostly all African American friends and they ALL put lotion in their hair as a way to make it less frizzy and for softness. I haven't known anyone since I am older to do it but yes, I think it is effective. They always used baby lotion.
If you have access to regular leave in conditioner though I would think it a better alternative since it is what is designed for.

There are many leave in conditioners that will tame your hair, make it softer and easier to comb. Some are thicker than others.
As for build-up, it is only of you keep adding it continually without washing your hair.
If you have dry fly-away hair, then maybe you are washing it too often and stripping out the natural oils. Or you are using a very harsh shampoo and no, or little, conditioner.
Some hair dressers recommend washing just once a week, but I do mine every three days. It is long and soft and shiny. But I use good shampoos and conditioners. My daughter has drier hair than me and can go a week between washing, but sometimes she forgets and so I use a leave in conditioner in her hair.

ok honestly anyleave in conditioner will give you conditioner build up....-lotion bad idea....conditioner build up causes dandruff , harder to brush, dryer hair...i use tres semme and cut my ends regularly and it's soft and healthy feeling, btw never use head n shoulders it just cakes the flakes on with some coating making the problem worse

I heard you can put baby lotion in your hair. I never tried it because my hair is too fine.

No... mosts lotions have alcohol in them... I dunno. If lotion were as good as conditioner, they wouldn't have conditioner. Plus, it's not good if you're trying to go for a frizz-free style, because it has water in it. Guess you could try it though, what harm could it possibly do? I just wouldn't use it because alcohol burns off hair.

It works haha shhhh its a secret. Victoria secret lotions work great. You dont glob it in. Just rub it in your hands and before it all gets absorbed by your hands rub your hands through your hair. It probably works different for different people depending on your hair but yeah.
