Myth, at least in part. It is more dangerous not taking baths and showers. It is possible to get diseases from either bath or shower. Using good water is safe. Do not worry about it unless you immune system is compromised.

If that's the case, all Japanese women would have the problem as the custom there is to take baths, not shower. Also, using a swimming pool would put you to the same risk.

I've never heard of it, but someone is playing with you.

It's "trich" (Trichomonas vaginalis.) It's a microscopic protozoan parasite that lives in the vagina and urethra of women, and the urethra of males. It causes itching, and kind of an icky discharge. It's one of the more common parasites.

You can catch it from sexual contact with an infected partner, or theoretically from someone else's bathwater, if they're infected. (This is why I hate public hot tubs, btw. Creeps me right out.) But, you will not get it from sitting in your own bathwater.

Frequently sitting in the bath for a long time may slightly increase your risk of a regular old urinary tract infection, though.

You can get a bladder infection, especially from using bubble bath or bath salts. Who wants to sit in their own dirty water, anyway? Showers are much much better. You can use feminine wipes to clean your 'girly parts' to feel fresher.
