Are today's immigrants a bane on America?

Today's immigrants contribute WHAT? America would have never become a great nation with the immigrants who enter today....PERIOD. They may cut grass, pick fruit, bring you a meal,etc. ( and not even well) but they are not the immigrants who advanced science, engineering,etc. of years ago. Those immigrants stay home in Holland, Germany, etc. today. Today's immigrant doesn't want to speak English and waves the flag of the dump they left for America.

We shoudl return to the old ways of accepting immigrants. When my forefathers came over here, if you had any disease, or for any reason you were not "good enough" you were turned back home. The government conducted all of its business in English. Their were no signs a mile long written in 9 different languages at each government office. If you could not read and write IN ENGLISH, that was your problem. Today, we bend over backwards to accommidate "multiculturalism". This needs to stop. We need to recognize what made America Great --- her independence. America is not Mexico. We are not Europe. We are America. We were founded by mostly English settlers. We declared our independence from England. The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and all of our founding Documents are all written in one language --- English. That is what binds this country together. Three things --- Boarders, Language and Culture --- made America different, unique and strong. Todays Immigrants are erroding the very fabric which keeps this great nation together. Our Boarders need to be strenthened. Our Language needs to be supported. Our Culture needs to be embraced. Todays immigrants Illegally cross our Boarders. They do Not support our English Language. They only embrace their our culture. If we continue on this path it will lead to our destruction. One thing I do agree with the Democrats on is that we need to change. I only disagree on how. We need true conservatism to conserve and protect this great nation. Unfortunately I neither see it from the Democrats nor the Republicans.

If you are talking about legal immigrants I think you are sadly mistaken. Currently the wealthiest group of people in the USA are Indian-Americans. As a whole the Asian American population has the lowest amount of government assistance and have the highest household income than any other group of people in the USA. BTW the overwhelming majority are what you would call the Immigrants of today.

Tell them the math:
If a person can pick 1000 tomato's a day
And the average cost to the consumer per tomato is .75 cents.
To make the same profit between a $2 dollar an hour illegal and a $10 dollar an hour American, tomato's would cost .08 cents more.

I think I can live with a .83 cent tomato better than a whiney illegal..

Well said, and so true. It's such a joke when they compare themselves to the Ellis Island immigrants of the early 1900's. First of all those were legal immigrants, instead of sneakng over here and living on the shadowy fringes of society. And they accepted that life would be hard until they pulled themselves up through hard work, rather than taking to the streets in protest under their native flag and demanding entitlement programs. They understood the civic duty of contributing to American society so that it would continue to prosper, instead of leaching off tax-funded programs to which they don't even contribute. They were willing to send their sons to war to defend their new country, rather than spitting in the face of our culture.

How long can this go on before our society collapses in on itself? Then who's going to take care of them? They'll just move on to the next country, like a virus.

I agree with you 1000%. I think their should be rally to take out illegal immigrants OUT of our country.Immigrants go to a place where is cheap like the suburbs. Immigrants make our schools worse. Making things look ugly AND MOST OF ALL THEY THINK THEY CAN DO ANYTHING THEY WANT LIKE TAKING OUR JOBS/BEST PLACES TO LIVE.

Unlike the all the Irish potato farmers or unskilled Chinese laborers that built our railroads? Listen, all the major groups of immigrants that have come into this country have had this same nativist crap flung at them. The highly skilled immigrants you're speaking of are probably the Jewish immigrants that came over fleeing fascism or those highly skilled ex-Nazi war criminal/scientists that came in under Operation Paperclip. Other than that, everyone started at the bottom. Try picking up a copy of Willa Cather's "My Antonia", or watching a good documentary on Ellis Island.

The illegals who come here from mexico are the bottom of the mexican barrel, and that barrel is low to begin with. And mexico exports these people here knowingly, because if they stayed there they would destabilize the country to a point that revolution would be inevitable. It is easier and more profitable for mexico to get them out of the country, and then enjoy the benefits of their remittances to family in mexico for the mexican economy. The number 2 source of income to the mexican economy (oil is #1) is money sent from mexican nationals working in other countries, primarily the US.

i have to agree Worth you on this. yesterdays immigrants contributed to our system. today immigrants take from it and don't give in return. and it is the illegals I'm referring to. i wish people would say if it's illegals or illegal they are talking about.
