but he only comes 1 or 2 times a month to visit.always unavailable.[.i do not push the issue.]
and leaves as soon as he looks bored or finish.
i care about him. but he makes me feel unimportant.
should i just write him a dear jonh ...email...saying i quit,. but i do not want to hurt his feelings......what is the rite way.?

What you are referring to as steam is passionate/romantic love that is driven by chemicals in the brain. That can't last forever, so relationships change. They become focused on comfort and security, not passion.

However, passion can always be maintained. It's just not chemical based.

I dated a girl for 2 1/2 years and after the 1st year it started to lose it's steam, that's not saying that things weren't great but we just knew so much about each other that we could almost not discover anything knew about one another and it just took some of the fun out of it. We broke up in Fed '06 and I miss her a lot. I still have strong feelings for her to this day :/...

I think it comes from the fact that after that time together you become familiar with each other. There is no real effort needed after the "chase" before you start dating. Both sides become complacent when really there should be as much effort throughout the relationship to keep it going.

It's usually because the sex part of it doesn't seem as important as it once did and you both begin to long for something a little more meaningful, like being able to explore each other's world with a keen interest. You'll figure it out.

Comes from not having a deep seeded friendship to base the relationship on. Infatuation fades.

It must be do to the passage of time!?! One year is but <365> DAYS !! "That is Not as long of a time as some may think it is !!! yet MANY things can be done within that spanse of time !!try being flexable & venture out !! ,change your outlook about many things & try some of those different things !!Now that's major change !! first of all you spelled lose wrong, but after a year with a boy or girl friend it looses its steam because you are getting bored. kinda like that song that you hear on the radio every single morning.

Couldn't surely tell you, I' ve been marry for over 10 years and what you mentioned happen somewhat at the 2-3 years but we got over it. and now we don't worry much about it.

That is completely normal. It is because you lose the excitement of first meeting someone. It doesn't mean the relationship isn't going to work out.
