Well I'm sure your dentist has warned you of the damage you can do to your dental condition if you chew on ice. Other than that, ice lowers the temperature of any liquids you drink thereby causing your body to burn calories to heat it to your body temperature. Just don't choke on it!

The street drug "ice" in not good for you.

Frozen water, referred to as ice, in moderation can be tolerated by your system. Excessive consumption of ice can cause stomach cramps, head freeze, and other such maladies. It is best to consume drinks at body temperature, including what we consider "hot drinks." (ie:coffee, cocoa, tea, etc.)

There are medical reasons behind these statements, but I like the rest of this group prefer my cold drinks, and hot drinks. And eating ice is risky for fear of removing tooth enamel, or even breaking a tooth.

So be your own judge. Enjoy a cool drink or worry about your health...

No.

It's neither good nor bad for you. Chewing it is certainly bad on your teeth, while properly applying it to a sprain is very good for the injured joint; the ice itself is neutral. It's all in how you use it.

Ice isn't bad for you unless you're chewing it. It takes alot of force to chew ice and ice can break your teeth.

It is both good and bad.
Bad
If you chew it you could crack a tooth.
Eat it too fast you'll get brain freeze.
Good
It takes down swelling on bruises
Reduces body temperature if too hot.

Ice is good for your body because it is made with water and once it melts it will hydrate your body.

Ice is water and needs to be SANITARY prior to freezing or you can get sick from bacteria. The ice is safe if you use clean water to make them.

I don't know. Some people say eating it speeds up metabolism. Other people say that craving ice means a mineral deficiency of some kind.
