I'm female, current weight is 256
I am cutting back calories and portions, plus eating healthier foods. I have been getting on the treadmill 3 x a day for 20-25 minutes between 2.3 and 2.6 mph with 0% incline.
How much weight do you think I will lose per month?
Thanks,
Heather

I've done a 3 month Cleanse in the Fall of last year. Should I also start a 1 month maintenance cleanse (it definitely has fiber in in, lol).
Also, I never really ate that much, just poor choices like fried foods. I hardly ever eat sweets and potato chips. However, I would have several beers each night while watching TV with my husband. I know, I know, that's bad for you.
I also know that my Thyroid glad does not function properly, was diagnosed Hypo years ago - but my tsh levels are never low enough for the doctor to prescribe Synthroid.
Thank you to all that have given helpful advice so far!!!!

PS. To the person that said I eat like a cow (grasses) please put the computer down & go sit on the couch and have a beer :)

there are far to many variables to determine how much weight you will lose.
I wouldn't eat any less than 1500 cals a day. consume about 50% protein 30% carbs and 20% fats. make sure to get the 30 grams of fiber in daily. the higher the fiber intake the lower serum insulin levels will be. consume all the leafy vegetables that you can and keep any fruits to early in the day & afternoon.
depending on your current cardiovascular endurance the 3x 20-25 minute sessions are good for now. however I would try to work towards doing a single 60-80 min session of cardio in the am. the best way to use cardio to aid in weight management is to focus on increasing the amount of work that you perform in the same amount of time. don't use the calorie counter on the treadmill but use the distance. if you exercise for 25 minutes and travel say 5 miles today then in one week you should be able to travel 5.2 miles in the same 25 minutes. by constantly increased the amount of work that is performed you will increase your cardiovascular endurance. as your endurance increases you will be able to exercise at a higher level of intensity. the greater the intensity of exercise the greater the increase in the metabolic rate after exercise their will be. ultimately you want to be able to exercise at a high level of intensity for 60-80 minutes non-stop 5-7x a week

I think you should go to your doctor and discuss what you've tried and what you still could try. Dieting shouldn't make you feel depressed you should feel that you are changing your lifestyle for the better. Why not join a club or society? Take part in more physical activities. Power walking is great and burns quite a lot of calories. Also, you may wish to consider hypnotherapy which could help focus your mind and not make you put back on any weight you do lose. Don't forget you're young and that will help you in terms of burning calories and losing weight. However you should definitely exercise more, it's important.

i don't know how much you will lose per mpnth but.... I think that if you want to lose weight by walking the best motivation is having a dog. If your one of those people that just can't make yourself do excerise.... or just feel like you don't always want to or not enough energy then having a dog will all change that. A dog demands lots of walks during the day, it is a responsability that will have, which will help you lose weight no matter what. Plus, walking outside is alot healthier and interesting than walking on a treamill 3 x a day. might as well spend that time outside with a pet.:) hope this will help

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

How much exercise you do, and at what levels of effort don't make a rats *** worth of difference if your nutritional intake doesn't decrease exponentially. Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day... and work up to an hour as quickly as you can. Get your speed up to 3. to 3.5 mph... then you'll start to see some results.
Yes, starting slow is best... but that that rate you won't lose much of anything. Pick up the pace, make some sweat girl!
Good luck.
I did it...so you can to. Its all in how much you put into it.
Here's what I did:
1. Committment - Never give up. Never quit. Never give up.
2. Shut your mouth - You don't need to eat all that crap. And its mostly crap isn't it?
3. Get off your butt - You must exercise. Bottom Line: you must burn more calories than you take in.
Repeat that like a mantra... its your lifeline.
Prayers for your success.

it depends on your genetics, metabolism and how much of a change in your daily life besides walking on the treadmill and eating healthier although those two are very important. every lilttle bit counts
