Usually the one I lie to about my feelings is myself. I think it is called denial.

I think it's because everyone is afraid of how a person will react. People feel the need to be liked and try to avoid causing any situation that can turn into a problem where they are the "bad guy". Some people lie because they want to have their cake and eat it too, but most people lie because they have their whole lives and it's just a bad habit that they cannot break. I've seen people lie about watching a movie that they never watched. People are impressionable. They want to be liked and they don't want someone to dislike them for being honest....so they lie.

Lying is a defense mechanism common to everybody. Nobody wants to be naked out there feeling so vulnerable. With a lie, you could shield yourself from possible hurt, possible dissapointment.
It takes courage to tell the truth especially about your feelings. Lying is much easier since we are shielded from the truth. If we tell the truth, then fear sinks in. Usually the truth comes out easily if we are sure about everything. But in life that is not the case. So you just have to be brave and face anything that the truth may bring.

Because feelings is where we are more fragile. I think that most humans would rather be beaten than rejected or criticized. A broken heart is the most painful illness and the harder to cure.
We lie to protect our selves; we lie to hide our feelings behind a barrier only we can control.
Regarding other kinds of lying (like people doing wrong things and denying it, or making up stories about themselves or other people, or mean gossiping etc.), I guess that those who do that need psicological atention.

Because it is easier to deny the lie than deny the feeling. It is easier to accept the criticism if the feeling wasn't true. The risk to openning up to people is great. Self protection is important in certain situations. As you get more mature and with people you are more comfortable sharing you with others you will not lie. Acceptance happens with your friends.

We usually lie when we have done something we shouldn't have. Easy way around this is to ask yourself 'how would 'x' feel if I do this' before you do anything questionable.
As far as feelings, it can be scary to put yourself out there and lay all of your emotional cards on the table. Just remember, nobody ever said love was easy. No risk, no reward.

i think we lie because we don't like that truth so we think no one else will like the truth. but some times we lie to help some one keep them from the truth which in the long run hurts them. or we could lie because we simply don't want to get in trouble but then we don't think about what is going to happen to us when they find out we lied. we may lie about your feeling because we may not want any one to feel sorry for us or think that we need special help or what they just did or said did really hurt us but we don't want to make them feel bad for what they did. so i think we lie just to either protect our self or some one else.

I really hated the movie "Fanny and Alexander" but one thing I did get out of it was the real reason people lie.
"One lies to gain an advantage."
People lie about their feelings for three reasons: 1, they don't want to admit, even to themselves, what they really feel. 2. They don't want the person who is asking to know. 3. They don't want to hurt the person's feelings.

Usually lies are related to emotions. The fear of being vulnerable, fear of being judged, guilt. shame. or of it stems from feelings of inferiority or inadequacy. And sometimes we just don't want to be caught and own up to our behaviours. to many lies destroy relationships and truth builds confidence and intimacy. Choose what kind of person you want to be !
Personal integrity is extremely valuable because the opposite is to be lost as a person.
Hope this helps
