Was Windows Vista released before it was ready?

Question

I'm buying a new computer this weekend and don't know whether to buy one with Vista since I've heard so much bad stuff about it. What do you think?

Vista isn't that bad. Most major software / hardware has bugs when it first comes out. Believe me, I'm not a Microsoft fanboy; it's just that I use Vista all the time and it works perfectly. And they will always release a service pack to fix the bugs.

The beta version of vista acutally was better then the one they released. My mother board fried recently so I had to get a new computer, (the computer wasn't worth getting a new mother board) I got all the parts and built it, then installed windows XP - wont see me with vista.
If you can find a good computer with XP on it , I would reccomend it. If you do have to get a vista, your old hardware might not work and you may end up bringing it back to the shop.

P.S for the post above mine- vista did have beta - then the broke and released it.

If you computer has the system requirements than it should work fine Love unbuntu and vista go and choose wisely.

Yes Micro soft does not do Bata testing. for the firsat 2 years the bugs are reported back to MS and they relice patches (like SP2 for xp )

i wouldn't buy it if i were you. but microsoft hasn't had a good version of windows for awhile so you might not have much choice.

actually they haven't even started creating vista yet, but they can still sell it. they will just call you whenever they decide to release it. latest rumor has it that it won't be until 2018.
if you can wait that long go ahead and buy it.
