Can this be considered scientific proof that Santa Claus isn't real?
Also...
For those of you who teach your kids to believe in Santa Claus, if your kid somehow managed to find this somewhere, what would be your counter-argument, assuming you were going to defend believing this particular myth?
Last...
Why do we teach our kids to believe this story in the first place?
Honestly, I wopuld probably carry on the tradition if I had a kid to do so with. Childhood is a wonderful time, filled with hope and magic of all kinds. I don't think it does any harm to a child. Neither, however, do I think it is really necessary.
WSY as to each of these questions?

Consider the following:
1) No known species of reindeer can fly. But there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.
2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total - 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes there's at least one good child in each.
3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical).

This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house.
Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75-1/2 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc.
This means that Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound.

For purposes of comparison, the fastest man- made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second - a conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.
4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight.
On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that 'flying reindeer' (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine.
We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload - not even counting the weight of the sleigh - to 353,430 tons. Again, for comparison - this is four times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth.

5) 353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each.
In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second.
Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force.> In conclusion - If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he's dead now.

ROTFLMAO!!!
I'm not a kid. I'm a 40 year old man. I'm asking this question to make a totally different point. Some of you act like I really believe in Santa.
THAT is FUNNY!

Case in point...
Jesus M says, "There is no Santa Caus. Just imagination for children only. A false belief of other religion."
Yet Jesus M refuses to accept the same kind of proof against the Genesis story of literal creation, Noah's Flood, and the myth of Jonah being possible.
So many christians bristle at those who disbelief the Judeo/christian God, yet aren't any more careful when dismissing other Gods.
I think it is interesting...and quite telling.

91.8 million homes x 0.5 pounds of cookies = 45.9 million pounds of cookies
91.8 million homes x 1 pint of milk = 91.8 million pints of milk.
One can only surmise the carrying capacity of the digestive tract of Santa, but I suspect it isn't large enough to handle all of this.
Either Santa goes "pop", or Santa is packing a porta-potty with an amazing ability to hold (and compress) all of this waste.
Add to the weight of the sleigh (as there is no evidence Santa dumps his waste overboard).
Meanwhile, the reindeer are consuming enough sugar cubes to turn all the hummingbirds in the world into diabetics.
Consume enough sugar and you require water to compensate. Considering the amount of sugar Santa is feeding his reindeer, they'd need to drink an amount of water equal to Lake Ontario every Christmas.
The carrying capacity of a reindeer's bladder is not limitless.
I'll be thinking of you this Christmas ;-)

Santa is a real person its lucifer!!! If you know the origins of worship on Dec25 you will see that it's origin is satanic!! A god named mithras was worshipped on Dec.25 where blood sacrifices took place!!! 'Conicidentally' he was symbolized by a pine tree(also in norse tradition)! It's fairly common knowledge too that the Messiah's birthday was nowhere near Dec.25 but rather in September. It's completely wrong to LIE to your children for the devil's sake!!! Think about this too...lucifer's disguise is as an 'angel of light' the name even means 'light bearer'...and he gets you by making you think he's what's good for you! What better disguise than a jolly old feller whose lap you'd want to sit your children on!! Who the hell would want to be a 'santa' in a mall having endless lines of annoying kids and scared to death babies waiting to sit on his lap...a pedophile is all I can think of!!

Well, I know very little about physics. But I do have children and guess who leaves Santa Claus gifts. ME! Not Santa! I don't need scientific proof that he doesn't exist. ;)
I think it's a fun tradition to carry on. I remember it when I was a kid and it was fun!

Santa is based on Odin, an ancient god. Math and logic has nothing to do with it. Children, of a certain age, live by symbols and have yet to learn to apply math and logic to their beliefs. So there!

It made sense, and was actually true, 1800 years ago in one city. Folks liked it so much they repeated it so much that it became world-wide without anyone thinking about what they were saying until it was already said. Too late.
