Fried Bread Dough:

6 servings
2 loaves frozen white bread dough
cooking vegetable oil
cooking spray
1. Spray a large platter or bowl with cooking spray.
2. Place the two frozen loaves on the platter or bowl and cover with plastic wrap that has also been sprayed (the spray will help the dough not to stick as you are cutting it off in the morning).
3. Place in an unheated oven, out of the way of drafts, about ten hours before you want to fry it.
4. In the morning, place the vegetable oil in a heavy pan about three inches deep.
5. Heat the oil on medium high so that when a very small piece of dough is dropped in the oil, it sizzles.
6. With a very sharp knife, slices off hunks of dough about the size of small baseball and pull them slightly so that they stretch out.
7. Place in hot oil and brown on one side and then turn with fork and brown the other side.
8. When done, drain on paper towels and repeat the process.
9. Serve hot with butter (and I like a little salt on them), sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
10. You may also try cinnamon and sugar or maple syrup.

1 stick butter, room temp.
4 cups flour
2 yeast cakes
Poof yeast in 1 cup warm milk and 1 Tablespoon of sugar; stir.
Sift togther flour, salt, and sugar and make a well mixture. Add eggs and milk a little at a time. Add butter. Stir well. When thoroughly mixed, grease a large bowl and place dough in bowl.
Cover and let rise for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. When dough is little and appears light in texture, cut off some of the dough and strech it with your hands.
Drop into hot fat and fry until golden brown. Add anything you would like to the fried dough, such as powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar.

My kids love fries dough. I but the frozen dough from the supermarket. thawit for 24 hours then in a pan heat up some oil then drop a piece into the hot oil the douigh will cook. After you can put sugar or confection sugar on them its great. try it

ITALIAN FRIED DOUGH
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons sugar
1 lb. ricotta cheese
Mix all together well. Drop by tablespoons into hot oil (deep fryer or in large pot) 350°F degrees. Cook until light brown, but you may need to roll them so they cook evenly in the oil.
Roll in powdered sugar. To me, these taste like the funnel cakes found at carnivals.

All you need is frozen bread dough and a deep fryer. Thaw the dough, cut off a small slab, fry it for a couple of minutes and spead on the butter and sprinkle with confectionary sugar.

It is made by deep-fat-frying a portion of risen yeast dough. It is often served sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon or topped with fruit sauce. Sometimes it is also topped with chocolate sauce or whipped cream. The dough acquires an irregular, bubbly appearance from being fried.
2 to 2 1/2 cups unsifted flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package active dry yeast
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1 egg (at room temperature)
1 cup chopped pecans
melted butter
In a large bowl thoroughly mix 3/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, salt
and undissolved active dry yeast.
Combine milk, water and 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan. Heat over
low heat until liquids are warm. Gradually add to dry ingredients
and beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl
occasionally. Add egg and 1/4 cup flour, or enough flour to make
a thick batter. Beat at high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl
occasionally. Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.
Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic,
about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover; let rise in warm place, free from
draft, until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour. Punch down and let
rise an additional 30 minutes.
Combine remaining 1 cup sugar and pecans.
Punch dough down; turn out onto lightly floured board. Roll dough
to a 9X18 inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle
dough with half the sugar mixture. Roll up from long side as for
jelly roll; seal edges. Cut into 1-inch slices. Roll each slice
of dough into a 4-inch circle using remaining sugar mixture in
place of flour on board, coating both top and bottom of each circle.
Place on greased baking sheets. Cover; let rise in warm place,
free from draft, until doubled in bulk, about 30 minutes. Bake in
375 degree F. oven about 10-15 minutes, or until done. Remove from
baking sheets and cool on wire racks.

Use pilsbury croissants for the dough, lay the pieces in boiling oil (peanut or canola) until they brown, drain and remove to cookie sheet, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and confectionary sugar.

I love that stuff. Make the dough you use for a biscuit recipe, and flatten chunks of it out and fry it. After you fry it, mix some milk and powdered sugar and pour that stuff on it. Tastes great.
