i know someones gonna say...quit hiring them or renting to them and they'll leave...but we truly should be able to close our border...competely and deport each and every one of them. i am all for that tax increase...e temporary tax increase...heck, i'd probably be saving money in the deal compaired to what they siphon off of us currently. and no matter what you say about them paying into our system,it has been a well known fact that they use more services than they'll ever pay for. they are a drain on society and their own government and senor bush owes me bigtime

Not only are they a drain, but if you give them amnesty it will get worse. Think about this, they all make very little and are at the poverty level most times. IF they had legal jobs and paid taxes, their tax bracket and credit for children will mean not only do they not pay ANY taxes, but they will receive free money from the "child Tax Credit". So every year we'd directly pay cash (about $2500 - $3500) to each immigrant family.

Yes, our screwed up tax code allows you to get more money back than you paid in.

I do not know why. All I can say is that I think the government isn't doing a good job about the immigration thing. I myself am a LEGAL immigrant. I underwent soooo many procedures legally, costing my husband and I thousands of dollars. And since I am a legal immigrant, they have all my documents, all informations about me, etc, etc. I already have my permanent resident card, though there is a condition with my resident status coz I came here holding a fiance visa. The condition which is I should be married and living with my husband for a few years before I could apply for a petition to remove the condition of it is fine with me. I do not have problem with that. But what drives me crazy is the amount it's costing us doing things legally. Since we started the petition thing for me to move here, we have already spent well over $3,000.00 (if my memory serves me right), after 2 years i need to file another paperwork regarding my immigration and that will cost another few hundred bucks! and 5 more years after that, i will have to file for another paperwork for naturalization which costs a few hundred bucks too! Just a couple months ago I read an article on the paper that the fees are going up, and of course that would affect my future immigration stuffs i still have to deal with. Their reason for this increase is to make processing faster...whatever!!! For so many times they have processed my documents incorrectly. I was once out of status due to their negligence and when i call their hotline their customer service representatives give me different informations...they were so inconsistent. At one point they even changed my last name even if they have everything with them. The delays on the processing caused us hundreds of dollars because i needed to undergo another medical exam because my last medical exam's validity period (based on their requirements) already expired. And although it wasn't my fault coz the main reason why it's no longer valid is coz they delayed the processing for more than 3 months. If they did it within the processing period, I wouldn't have to undergo and pay for that medical exam. This whole immigration thing is getting into my nerves, but what can I do? It obviously is a lot harder to do it legally. And while millions of illegal immigrants here are living freely, working freely, don't pay taxes, and all that, not to mention waiting to be given an amnesty -> just like that!...here I am struggling and in debt because of the amount this whole immigration thing costed my husband and I...Does that make sense? Isn't that unfair? I initially couldn't even get a job when I got here, even when I have my social security because I needed to apply for an employment authorization (which of course, costs a lot too!). And if i ever work without it, that would be a ground for my deportation. And finally when i got my permanent resident card, i updated it with social security. And guess what? I still need to fill out some paperworks so they'd update my status as an immigrant before I could actually work. I am not sure how many legal immigrants are going through the same thing I am going through. But all I can say is that the governmnet is being too rough on me and that obviously isn't fair. And in my own opinion, lowering the immigration fees and making it easier would be the best thing to do. That way, most intending immigrants (if not all), would not hesitate to go through the legal process. Coz if these intending immigrants know it would cost them thousands to do it right and it would be hard to do it, this illegal immigration thing is never going to end...just like the paperworks i have to file and pay - - - it's never gonna end. I can't believe how they make things easy for illegals, while they're making it big deal on legal immigrants. I wish they'd realize the difference and come up with a win win solution regarding this...But I guess that's all I can do - WISH!!!

Because we can't....The children born here are American by birth. This administration is lazy and sneaky....we will never know what's up with Bush .
Cover ups and BS are enough for me.. protesting on our streets(like they have the right to do so), sucking up oursocial services, collapsing the middle class, expanding the poorer classes, we have to provide interpreters, doctors and everything else in their language. They protest using their flag as a basis.....I say get out...Stop the border leaks , let the border police do their jobs and stop the BS.....

Americans are complacent.talking alot but doing nothing! Bush is a liar!

You are right, it is your ilk that should quit illegally hiring them at slave labor wages with no benefits. That is your portion of the Republican tax for hiring illegals! I don't hire them!

They just rounded up over 300 in Bedford , MA and left all their kids stranded. They worked at a sweatshop that had a 94 Million dollar federal contract to make armored vests. None were Mexican. They were docked pay if they had to use the rest room.

The same for a company in San Antonio with the largest MRE contract in the US. All of theirs were illegals where the company forged their papers! Over 200 in this case.

So, no matter how you slice it, it is the Republicans and large farmers THAT NEED slave labor! You get all your fruit and wine cheap! Consider that as part of the payment!

As far as schools go, I wonder how most of you feel with no children paying 1/2 your property tax (we do) for education? I bet if they are paying for your kids you are all for it!

Hmmm! As Mexico is where we get 1/3 of our oil, I wonder if we would still get it if we closed our borders, which is actually impossible?

You can deport them. What's your complaint? The reason they are here is because they are a source of cheap labor, don't cause too many problems, and are useful in keeping labor unions from organizing unskilled workers. The reality is that the "them" are necessary for this economy and the politicians are not serious about immigration reform except to raise campaign donations and to get votes by fear mongering. It is a lie that "them" are a big source of drug importation, use public services, and don't pay taxes. Bush has been trying to get amnesty to get the Mex-Am vote for his party. He also wants the big business bucks to flow to his party. He could care less about the people.

I'm with the responder who wants more raids. Let's deport illegal aliens as frequently as possible!

First yes we must control our borders and ports. Next go after those that hire illegal aliens. then go after those renting to illegal aliens. and after that start deporting. But yes it must start with controlling our borders and ports. ------- I'm all for more raids to, but it has got to start with control of our borders.

I think we should spend more on the raids and deporting all the illegals possible. It would be cheaper in the long run.
