Afterall, didn't Abraham have several wives. Let's see who else....Jacob had several wives.

Yet, wasn't Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed?

So which one does God appear to despise?

Interesting question.

Yes, Abraham had more than one wife... and it was Sarah's choice to increase Abraham's (appropriate) reproductive opportunities....

And Jacob- yeah, he was cheated out of his chosen wife by his father-in-law!! The sisters, Leah and Rachel, agreed to share him.

Yeah, David got himself in trouble. I suspect God was mostly upset about Bathsheba- David had her husband, Uriah, killed, so he could have her.

I think the key to God-sanctioned polygamy is in the woman's (or women's) concent. If God commands, AND the women agree, then the practice is allowed (in God's eyes).

On the other hand, God has NEVER approved same-sex sexual relationships.

BTW- there are some records that seem to indicate that the men of Sodom were bi-sexual... Apparently, the men of the city who wanted to "know" Lot's guests- they were married men!!

The small communities that practice polygamy kick out most of the males when they are teenagers. They accuse them of different things and then kick them out of their community. They do this because they want there to be more women then men so that the men can have multiple wives. It's not that more females are born, there's a way they make this happen. These young men are then alone without money and many find their way into drugs and other problems. If it was that there was a shortage of men due to a castrophe, or that there were way more girls being born, then I'd say as long as the females are of legal age, then that's up to them, but that's not the case.

God has always been, and always will be against any homosexual behaviors or thoughts.

The part that too many people don't understand is that He loves ALL of His children (all of the people who live on earth)with a love that cannot even be understood completely while we're here on earth.

Marriage between man and woman was given to us by God, from the beginning, because it is the very best for us.

And there have been times when God approved of polygamy. There are several OT prophets who had more than one wife.

In answer to your question, my guess would be that people cling to their traditions, afraid to change their minds about much of anything.

Agree with the answer above me. But, if I had to choose I would condemn gay/lesbian before polygamy.

You ask an interesting question.

Let's say that gay marriage becomes routine. What will the next step be. Surely some group will seek similar treatment.

Is is possible that pedophiles could seek to have their relationships with children recognized as legitimate under the law?

Could the person engaged in bestiality lay a similar claim?

The slippery slope might just be lined with K-Y Jelly.

I dont have a problem with polygamy if the parties involved are adults and are fully willing.

because polygamy greatly reduces my chances of finding a woman willing to....nevermind...

the only time i have a problem with Polygamy is when people like Mr. Phelps use it to marry pre-teen girls and to force underage girls to marry their dirty old friends.

other than that it that is how they wish to live i say go for it.
