You mean he some times wants to be with you and some times he doesn't? He's looking to take a 'break'?
It kind of depends on how old both of you are. If he's young, then he's not ready to settle down, but does like being with you. If he's older, he could like playing the field or has committment issues.

Find out wat he wants the times that he doesn't want to be with you and say, hope he is happy with that, because you are to good to be a "sometimes "girlfriend". I don't know you and you don't know me, but for you to be even concerned about this I'm sure you are a sweet girl and don't need a player.
