If it's a manual, wrap a rag around the knob, then use a pair a wide pliers to twist it off. It's screw on, but they use some glue to make sure it stays on there.

On automatics pull down the gray plastic part under the knob then carefully remove the gold colored clip slide it out foward. Then pull Knob straight up. Manual is threaded on.

look on the front of the shifter knob just in front of the dash and there might be a horseshoe clip holding it on, just pull the clip out and the knob will come right off.
