I repeat to myself several times a day the words "success, wealth, self-confidence, happiness". This helps me focus on the positive. Also, I read books about positive thinking and I have learned to dwell on the positive. What we think about all day has a direct result on our daily reality. Day dream about being successful and happy. Actually picture a scenerio where you are being congratulated for your achievements or rewarded financially for your intelligent endeavors. Good Luck!

Since depression seems to be due to the self reinforcing cycle of negative thoughts bringing on a down feeling and that depression bringing on more negative thoughts, simply substituting a positive thought for a negative one every time you catch yourself doing it is the quickest way.

This also helps break an ongoing depression when you find yourself in one. It is sometimes hard to think of positive things when you are in this negativity cycle but with sheer will power you can do it. Once you have substituted a positive thought it is easy at first to slip back into negativity but again will power will do it. Then when your mood has lifted do positive happy things to maintain the high.

Hope this helps, good luck, good health, peace and love!

I was very depressed. Someone called me and after talking for awhile, she suggested that I make a list of all the things I am grateful for. I couldn't think of anything. She said what about the blue sky? the birds that sing? the flowers in your yard? the people who love you?

It took awhile for me to quit focusing on me and what I thought were problems and be aware of everything that I was grateful for. It was the little things that meant the most.

Enjoy your life!

Just say screw it, you only live once, everybody dies sooner or later. Set a crazy (fun) goal and go for it. Start mountain biking, snowboarding, mountain climbing, etc. Instead of waiting for tomorrow and hoping something will change when it gets here, look at today as an opportunity to do something that will make a good story for your grandchildren someday. And drink lots of beer. kidding.

You choose. Do not look to someone else for your happiness.
