how can christians believe that the world was created like 6000 years ago?

im a christian mostly for social purposes but the idea that earth is only 6000 years old i cant believe. where did the dinosaur bones come from then. this makes me question christianity. and all that carbon dating of skulls and stuff.

First of all, people who ask about carbon dating are usually thinking about the radiometric dating methods that are claimed to give millions and billions of years; carbon dating can only give thousands of years (anything over about 50,000 years old, should theoretically have no detectable carbon-14 left).

Given the genealogies of the Bible, it’s safe to assume that the world along with Adam and Eve and the dinosaurs was created less than 10,000 years ago.

And so one of the questions asked is, “But doesn’t this process of fossilization take millions of years?” Most people assume that fossil bones must be very, very old—because, after all, they have turned to stone. But that’s not the case. For instance, a fossilized hat has been found in Tasmania (turned completely into mineral rock); part of a clock encased in solid rock was found in Westport, Washington; solid rock has been found that formed inside man-made pipe in Louisiana; a partially fossilized hammer encased in rock has been found in Texas, a gearwheel encased in rock has been found in South Australia; fossilized bags of flour have been found in Arkansas, and a fossilized ham has been found in New Zealand. And there have been many other examples like this of rapid fossilization and the formation of rock (look it up).

Also, fossils don’t come with labels telling you how old they are. So, what about radiometric dating methods; don’t they prove millions of years? Well, these are far from infallible—they are indirect methods based on quite a few assumptions, and evolutionary geologists themselves will often not accept a radiometric date unless they think it’s correct (i.e. it matches what they already believe). There are plenty of scientists who question their accuracy. For instance, the “RATE” project has discovered several striking examples of contradictions in these dating methods. If you want, you can get their book or movie called Thousands...Not Billions and learn about some of their remarkable results. If you do a bit of research, you will find that there is a lot of evidence of radiometric dating not being accurate.

OK, is there evidence of younger dates for dinosaur fossils?

In 1990 a sample of various dinosaur bones were sent to the University of Arizona for a “blind” Carbon-14 dating procedure. “Blind” in the sense that they didn’t tell them what the bones were. The oldest date they got was 16 thousand years. Now I don’t think they are even that old, but that’s a far cry from the millions of years evolutionists suggest. If dinosaurs became extinct more than 65 million years ago, there should be no carbon-14 left in their bones. Evolutionist of course say the samples must have been contaminated.

In 1981, scientists identified unfossilized dinosaur bones which had been found in Alaska 20 years earlier. Philip J. Currie (an evolutionist) wrote about this and some similar finds, “An even more spectacular example was found on the North Shore of Alaska, where many thousands of bones lack any significant degree of permineralization. The bones look and feel like old cow bones, and the discoverers of the site did not report it for twenty years because they assumed they were bison, not dinosaur, bones.” As Dr. Margaret Helder has said, “How these bones could have remained in fresh condition for 70 million years is a perplexing question. One thing is certain: they were not preserved by cold. Everyone recognizes that the climate in these regions was much warmer during the time when the dinosaurs lived.”

In 1990, Scientists from the University of Montana found T. rex bones that were not totally fossilized and even found what appeared to be blood cells in them. Dr. Mary Schweitzer said, “It was exactly like looking at a slice of modern bone. But, of course, I couldn’t believe it. … The bones, after all, are 65 million years old. How could blood cells survive that long?” How indeed?

And then in 2005, they found an even greater discovery. Science Daily website said (March 25, 2005): “Dr. Mary Schweitzer . . . has succeeded in isolating soft tissue from the femur of a 68-million-year-old dinosaur. Not only is the tissue largely intact, it’s still transparent and pliable, and microscopic interior structures resembling blood vessels and even cells are still present.” As Dr. David Menton said, “It certainly taxes one’s imagination to believe that soft tissue and cells could remain so relatively fresh in appearance for the tens of millions of years of supposed evolutionary history.” Wouldn’t that be a hit for the meat industry if we could figure out how to preserve meat for so long?

This evidence fits much better with Noah’s flood 4-5 thousand years ago, and a recent extinction of dinosaurs.

He calls evolution a religion and the problem arises when scientists and others take evolution to be a process that is wholly unguided and driven by chance, so that it is simply a matter of chance that rational creatures like us exist.

You should question carbon dating because it doesn't hold true after 5,000 years. Even before 5,000 years it is questionable.

Creation thinking was around long before evolution thinking and the Bible told of a circle earth meaning round, pathways in the sea, flying on eagle's wings, etc., etc., etc.

Not all Christians believe in that 6000-year thing. Pope John Paul II came out and said there was no problem with believing in evolution and being a Christian. Most main-line Protestant denominations grew up on this issue a long time ago as well. It's just in the USA (primarily in the South) where you have high concentrations of creationists.

I live right in the middle of the Bible Belt, so you can imagine what I face at school in my work as a science teacher.

Well the dust deposits on the moon that has no atmosphere suggests that creation happened about six thousand years ago. I mean if it were billions of years old that the evolutionist believe than you would have big old dunes of dust on that moon.


Also scientists estimate that the sun is burning up at a rate of 5,000 tons per second. If it were even 10-50,000 years old it would have been of such a size to burn the earth out of existence.


So the 6,000 year old earth makes sense from all logical scientific observations and reasonble estimates.

Both verses tells us about huge creatures.We dont know if they are dinosaurs are not.

John 3:16[kjv] "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

I'm not sure how those Christians could believe something so impossible. It's kind of like believing a baby could be born to a virgin mother, or that the whole earth could be flooded at the same time. It's kind of like someone being raised from the dead. =) Oh wait all those things were talked about in the Bible too. (It's called Faith.)

First of all the dinosaurs were around about 3000 years ago ( the Book of JOB). The bones came about when they died. An on the topic of fossils, none are being made today. Fossils can only be made when an animal of thing is quickly buried. The Flood occurred which covered the entire Earth and quickly submerged everything.

The notion of a 6,000 year old world is completely ludicrous. You would have to condense all of early history into a very brief period of time to get such an approximation to work.

Furthermore, when you analyze where the 6,000 year old value came from, it has so many logical holes, it resembles swiss cheese. It makes the critical assumption that no periods of time passed in the Bible's account where nothing happened.

if we discredit all of the c14 dating data, we still have a lot of methods that prove the earth is at least, at the very least, 100,000 years old. im not talking about the date of the earth's birth but that was the oldest record of some volcanic event here.

Who's to say that the Dinosaurs didn't live back in the Egyptian days? You know that might have been how they transported those humongous pyramid blocks. And how can you be certain they know what they are doing as far as figuring out how old they are.For all you know they could be lying through their teeth to get you to think you evolved from pond scum.
