Unfortunately, in the state that I live in (Maryland), legally there is nothing that can be done about someone says, "F**k you". The only statement that has legal ramifications is, "Kiss my A**".

IF you want to be a child about the situation, you could, "punch their lights out", as one of the answerer's so kindly advised.

We have this strange law in the US called "Freedom of Speech." That pretty much allows people to say whatever they want. There are, however, some restrictions on saying or doing things which will "likely cause violence" or "provoke violence." So, it depends on the context of the comment.

not around here. you can call the police if you want, if you call 911 they have to send someone. but why bother? the only thing they can do is talk to the person who said it and odds are they'll tell them that you're nuts and to stay away from you.

You could get your butt beat, nothing really could be done legally if its just between the two of you. It would be your word against his. You could say it then, deny it. Just make sure no recorders are around.

There are variables. If you are out in public, and you say it. No.

If you say it to someone on the phone, etc. No

If you say it at work, sexual harrasment laws have been taken WAY out of control, so probably.

If you are in school, yes.

If you are in court, yes.

If they are big enough to do somethign about it, yes.

I hope this makes sense of your situation.

For some odd reason, free speech cannot be applied to a civilian public servant - a cop. It is called 'utterences' and you can be arrested for it.
