i was looking at private student loan sites and it seems they won't loan more money than the expected amount required to go to college.

my school says it costs about $11,600 a year to go. with my gi bill and fafsa i get that much now.

problem is it doesn't cover all my expenses, i had cancer last year and i am heavily in debt from it.

is there a student loan program that will allow me to borrow as much as i need? if i could just pay off some stuff i would be fine with the other money i get. the little doctor bills and bank loan i got to pay off my CC i ran up while having cancer is crushing me financially, i am trying my best to keep good credit.

and how good of credit does someone need to get the loan? i have no co-signer to help out and i don't work, my only income is from my gi bill and fafsa loan.

If you were a bank, would you loan money to someone who has no job, owes a lot already, and is trying to borrow more than is needed for the reason he claims to be borrowing for?

This is pretty unrealistic, dont you think.

If you are well enough to go to school, you are well enough to work. You need to get a job, get back on your feet financially and then go to school. Don't expect to use your school loans to pay back medical bills.

One thing to beware of. If you were to borrow a lot of money for school and used it to pay your other bills, then you cannot get out from under your debts if you declare bankruptcy in the future. School loans are specificallly exempted from being cleared by bankruptcy, so no matter what, you have to pay them off if it takes a million years...

As a financial aid administrator, I can tell you that student loans, federal or private, will not lend to cover non-educational related expenses.
