Well, I won't be of much help as both have their merits.
2:00 pm is and odd time and many people will likely be very hungry by then. However it gives the cooks ample time to prepare without having to get up at dawn. It also gives those who have to travel ample time to get there.
12:00 pm is better for those with rumbling tummys and good for those who have an evening engagement, however those preparing the meal have to get up that much earlier and those who travel have to leave that much earlier.
As I write this though, I have decided I think 2:00 pm is a better time. Don't gloat too much though or you may be banished to the couch!! LOL

No, it really is not healthful to bypass foodstuff. we've all heard that breakfast is the biggest meal of the day- AND that is so real! in case you do not devour interior 2 hours of having away from mattress your body is going into starvation mode and surely shops all the energy you devour by out the day. you want to devour breakfast to get your metabolism going. you could lose some weight with the help of skipping foodstuff, even though it really is not any longer healthful, and it really is not any longer the type of weight which will stay off! attempt eating a small, mild breakfast like a bowl of fruit and some oj. See the way you fill after attempting this for some days. i recognize that usually when I've skipped breakfast i personally fill ill... so no extra skipping foodstuff!!! ;)

I prefer eating earlier rather than later. (This is especially true for the situations/holidays where large dinners are served--namely Thanksgiving and Christmas.) I found that eating at a semi-normal time during these events (5 or 6 p.m.) makes me feel awful for the rest of the night. I've just stuffed myself, and I don't want to do anything else (visit with family, open presents, clean up the kitchen, etc.) I basically feel like a blob. :) Eating earlier isn't so bad because by the time the evening gets there, I'm refreshed, everything is cleaned up, and I have time to visit everyone. :)

Hmm, we always do this around 3 or 4 pm depending on everyone's schedule.
Some people will have to compromise and they should be made aware of this.
Every family is different.
I though that either 3 or 4 was enough after lunch (light) and a nice amount to digest before travelling.
Good luck & enjoy.

According to a course I took at Fordham University called "the Sociology of Social Gatherings" The serving of food to people gathering together is always best done at the beginning of the gathering. Food helps to put everybody in a good mood. Makes them energized an better prepared to conversate with each other. A big breakfast buffet is not a bad idea.
