Terrorist nuclear attack--Los Angeles, Chicago or New York?

Question

Since the politicians do not want to stop the terrorists, we must start planning for the inevitable.

Will the terrorists nuke Los Angeles, Chicago or New York first, assuming only one nuke was used?

The case for New York is that it is the biggest city, has the most commercial wealth and will cause the biggest shock to the financial health of the US (and the world).

The case for Los Angles is it is sin city--the terrorists don't like our "morals" (even though they think nuking us is fine).

The case for Chicago is that if the nuclear detonation is a ground burst, there would be massive radioactivity, and with the westerly to easterly winds would cause the greatest death toll as the radioactive debris will go from Chicago to Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Washington, etc.

Bush will not stop the illegals and has open borders and the Democrats are always soft on national security. We must contemplate this scenario and hopefully wake up DC.

I did not mention DC because there is a limit to question and answer space and we both need to be concise. You thinking is well though out.

I only listed the options as LA, Chicago and New York. I am hoping for answers to be one of those three cities for the reasons I mentioned and for supplemental reasons posted by other members. Yes, there is a case for DC for sure, but again, we both have limitts of how broad we can pose a question and space for answers, and those are the three cities I gave as an option.

Thank you so much for answering. Yes, we all wish that would be the way the world is. It is so sad that there are radical zealots out there who care nothing for human life and the beauty of this world, but only to further their grisly and hideous goals.

The world needs more people like you and the elimination of the radical zealots.

If the terrorists want to specifically target US commerce, I say Los Angeles. The ports of Los Angeles alone commands a monetary unit of billions of dollars, counting the amount of goods that passes through there. The economy of California is crucial to the economic health of the United States. The state alone is in the top 8 biggest economies in the world.

Destruction of Los Angeles takes a bite out of American pop culture, Hollywood being a great influence to America and the world. With the ports gone, trade with China and Japan, the 2nd and 3rd biggest economies in the world will trigger a collapse in economies on both hemispheres of the world.

Gosh, I hope this never happens.

justcall is inaccurate because there is a difference. The Russians did not want to die but the radical Muslims assume they are going to die, and in fact can't wait to die since their reward for their miserable life is in heaven. The only saving grace is that the radical Muslims have not been able to get their hands on a nuclear weapon yet. Iran or North Korea may take care of that some day, or nuclear waste piled on top of conventional explosives such as C-4 could create a radioactive zone somewhere for a few thousand years.

You've seen the results from a terrorist attack on 9/11, the 4th largest army in the world humiliated in less than 100 days, can you imagine the retribution after a nuclear attack.....there'd be glass parking lots all over the middle east...

I think they'd go for NYC first, then DC, then LA.

Reasons:

NYC is representative of our money.

DC is representative of our government, laws and leaders.

Sadly, LA is representative of our society as a whole. Although I don't share their left-wing ideas of 'morality', they are probably what the rest of the world sees when they think of the average American.

why the heck would they nuke us? anyone who does that would have some serious trouble coming to them and they know it. that's why it hasn't happened. *crosses fingers*
