i was pulling out of a parking space...STOPPED to put it in drive, i looked in my rearview mirror and i saw her backing out, i was still stopped and i tried to beep the horn but it was too late, she got out, tried to blame me then took off in her car, i got her license plate # but the police couldnt find it in the records..now i dont know what to do ( as for finding her for a hit and run, and the damage to my car ) i called my insurance, they said IF they find her, shell pay, but if they dont..we pay...im pissed

The computer system may have been down, or it's a new plate, and not in the system yet. Just keep checking back with the Police.

So if they don't find her, your insurance company pays. You knew that before you went to the police. fr_chuck is confused. NO state issues the same number on more than on style of plate and ALL styles would be found in a single search. If COULD be an out of state plate. You would need to know what state to find her in that case.

Well that is just how it happens, I know it sorta .......s..
But you may have gotten a number wrong, the plate could be expired, or as in TN, there are 100's of types of plates, and just the number can't give you the owner, you hve to know what type of plate it is, Or it could even be another states plate but looked simular.

Make sure the police file a report and have that attached to your insurance report. If your insurance DOES end up paying, chances are you won't end up paying higher premiums over it as the fault wasn't yours.

ok then your insurance company sucks contact the dmv and see if they can help you also was this a out of state plate or anything like that?

Give them some time. Sooner or later they will find her. It just takes some time.
