I'm going to do you one better, I'm probably not going to be buying gas until at least the end of May. I'm parking my car and riding my bicycle. I would encourage everyone to park the ride and take the bus, walk or ride the bike. This isn't so much to boycott big oil, which is probably an exercise in futility anyway. The best bet is to lower consumption, and not buy more vehicle that you need. If I have my way, my Dodge is probably going to be sitting in the parking lot for most of the summer.

The problem with that plan is folks will either buy their gas the day before or the day after and the overall sales will not be affected. To make an impact, people are going to have to find a way to actually decrease their overall consumption over a period of time. Options to do this might be carpooling, using public transportation or making fewer car trips.

Ok! I'll go along. but you must realize, people will be buying more gas on the 12th, 13, th , 14th, 16th, 17, th than they wouldn't ordinarily buy.

Wan't to do something more effective??EVERYBODY, don't drive1 day a week.
You pick the day. Some people are off from work Tuesay. Fine! Make tuesday your non driving day., Work or go to school Mon-Fri?.Ok. Make Sat or Sun your non-driving day.
And stick to it. No cheating. You need something at the store?. Do without or check before that day if you have enough.to get you through.
THAT will make a difference.

So we can give the oil accountants a day off before we all buy more gas than usual on the 16th? Forget it.

Sorry but that is a hoax that has been going around since the year 2000. You can read about it on www.snopes.com.
