I am almost 50, eeeewww, and I have medium to dark brown hair almost to my waist. I want to keep my long hair, and soemtimes I wear it down and sometimes I will pull the top and side into a pony tail or braid. Any suggestions for a different style that's easy to do? My hair is medium thick and silky and it will not curl.

Why do people think long hair is not for older women?

Here's a photo of a long hair style w/ subtle face framing layers: http://www.matrix.com/find_your_hair_style/long/style_16.aspx?scroll=1044

This cut would add some dimension & interest w/o being too radical a change.

As for other ways to wear your hair:

You can also loosely braid your hair, twist it into a bun & secure it w/ bobby pins. Be sure to keep it loose & easy w/ a few wisps to avoid looking matronly.

You can add a touch of sophistication to a pony tail by wearing it a bit lower & wrapping a section of hair around the elastic to conceal it.

I intensely dislike those varieties of questions, considering you many times get people who think of they might dicate the way you should gown and act based on your age, weight, length, race, etc. in case you pick to have longer hair, then have longer hair. do no longer pay attention to those that disagree, by fact it relatively is relatively none of their business employer. the only ones that would have an argument with this are the two very judgemental and yet to strengthen up or they comprehend they does no longer have the boldness themselves, so as that they do no longer choose all of us else to. My mom is in her early 50's and is starting to be her hair out. no longer fairly long, yet merely previous shoulder length. opposite to accepted perception, long hair does not make one look older or drag the face down until eventually the hair is flat and lank. the suited decrease and color can look magnificent on any age. until eventually your hair is in very undesirable subject, then prepare it off. do no longer decrease all of it off, considering you sense you should or by fact some shallow or bitter human beings do no longer agree. Take care : )

I would discuss it with your hairdresser first. My next suggestion is cut some of the length and add layers. 50 is not the age for long, one length hair.
GOOD LUCK

cut it to your shoulders, trust me, my mom did. and then straighten it completely flat every morning. even tho you want to keep your hair, short hair is better on older women
