Talk to a recruiter.

Step One - Make your decision to enlist only after reviewing your options carefully.

Step Two - Use the Internet. No better resource exists to learn about your opportunities in the National Guard.

Step Three - Examine your attitude toward the military's ultimate purpose - defending our national interests through warfare. Every soldier, including the noncombatant, is dedicated to that purpose.

Step Four - Remember that, while the National Guard plays a vital part in the nation's defense, it also is called upon to serve during civil emergencies and natural disasters.

Step Five - Discuss your interest in the National Guard with someone who is serving or has served in the Guard, such as a relative or friend.

Step Six - Listen closely to their personal experiences.

Step Seven - Understand that enlisting in the Guard means a minimum of one weekend a month and two weeks a year away from family and friends.

Step Eight - Remember, too, Guard members are subject to call-up with little or no notice.

Step Nine - Visit a National Guard recruiter at your local community armory or at an Air National Guard installation.

Step Ten - Take notes.

Step Eleven - Ask for literature.

Step Twelve - Remember, recruiters have quotas, but you have a right to all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Step Thirteen - Make sure you clearly specify your desire to seek assignment to a particular military occupation specialty. Choices will include combat arms, combat support, combat service support, military police and intelligence, communications, medical and administrative/personnel.

Step Fourteen - Ask what must be done to assure assignment to preferred training.

Step Fifteen - Remember, you must pass physical tests and a drug screening.

Step Sixteen - Be prepared, too, for a criminal background check.

Step Seventeen - Make no legal commitment until you're absolutely sure of your decision to join.

go here, http://www.1800goguard.com/car/index.php

Enter your telephone number, wait to speak to a recruiter. You could receive a bonus of up to $20K.

Anyhow, first get your ducks in a row, have a copy of your birth certificate, social security card, high school diploma, college transcripts, and any court documents you may have if you have ever been in trouble with the law. Get addresses and telephone numbers of all of your relatives, your schools, your workplaces, your friends - you need at least four different ones not listed on other places on your application.

Some conversation will ensue (meaningless). You will take the ASVAB test, *hint* study for it. Based on your scores you will be given several jobs to choose from. You will go to MEPS, take a physical, if you pass you will be shown those several jobs to choose from again. Choose one, choose how long, choose a bonus or education benefits, choose when to go to basic training. Sign ten million forms, take the oath of office, sign some more forms, you are now a servicemember.

go to a recruiter there in the phone book. then pick up the phone and dial the number for the recruiter. then when they answer tell them you want to join. they will hold your hand the rest of they way. you must have a high school diploma to join.
they may take a GED.. its that easy.
make sure you do a job that interests you something you will enjoy or something that when you get out will carry thru to the civillan work force

Find a recruiter and they can see if you're qualified and it takes off from there. I recommend the Air Force. Also go to military.com, it's a big help.
