Whats Evil then if you don't belive in God. If there was no good how could you know there was evil? If there was no standard how could you know if someone was going against the standard, or being evil. People can live how they want, just because there is a standard, or moral law, doesn't mean people have to follow it. You answered your own question. So does that mean that it's evil to do good? You're right that there couldn't be evil without there being a good, so what does that mean? You have a choice to do either.

Evil is an absence of Good, rather than a quality itself.
Ignorance leads to commiting acts that hurt others. Yet if one is re-educated to destroy the ignorance, then one commits pious actions. When one is fully knowledgable, one cannot commit evil, as no ignorance can exist in pure goodness. Humans by their nature are never fully knowledgable and so always act under some veil of ignorance.

Good is never evil and evil will never be happiness. The world is hard enough to teach us every thing we need to know. However only one person was and ever will be able to walk this earth with out committing some evil or I should say sin. That is why we have to look to him for forgiveness.

Hot and cold make rain. We need rain. Good and Evil make choices. We need choices. Without the presence of positive and negative the world ceases to exist.

It must be necessary to be evil.

"I don't know what's wrong or right
If day is night, or black is white,
I only know when two men collide

It's a question of honor."

Good and evil are frames of reference and nothing more than human concepts. They also change across time spans. If you lived four hundred years ago, were white, and lived in what is now South Carolina, you would probably not find slavery evil. I'm hoping you would find it "evil" today. I try to think in terms of positive and negative, not good and evil.

There is also evil in being good. Like being good because of an ulterior motive.
