My son that was in the Marines and served in Iraq ect...was on leave. And on Feb 3rd while he was home he was killed. His death goes in deep detail so I'm not going there but why won't the Military step in and do something instead of waiting for a small town sheirff to do all the investagation while the men that hurt my son have the right to go on with their lives.
Sorry I just don't understand it. If it happened in another country our Goverment wouldn't set back right?

So sorry for your loss.........I know it sounds crazy but It's a civil matter because it happened while 1 he was on leave and 2 because it was off base. The Marine Corp has no authority to investigate in this situation. They will do a very limited investigation, but it won't be beyond the scope of the one the civilian authority's. Again my sincerest condolences for your loss.

I am terribly sorry for your loss. The military has to be careful where they step in. They have limits. It keeps us from being a police state. I really do not think they have the power to get involved.

Always sad to hear of such a loss, my sympathies.

Since it did not take place while on duty or ob\n base, it is strictly a civilian matter, unless the local police request assistance from the military

The Marines or any military ever step in & undermine a local or state investigation. We had an Army officer murdered by his wife & girlfriend & it was left up to the local law enforcement.
They may inquire for you with the locals but if he did not die while on duty - they will not interfere. No one would want a military state where the Marines enforced local law.
Sorry for your loss .

My condolences to you and your family for your loss. May justice be served and those responsible for your son's death be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

I'm sorry for your loss, but that is NOT the Marine Corps job. They only have jurisdiction within the military base. Just because yourson was a Marine does not mean his case gets special treatment in the Civilian world. His case will have to be processed like everyone else's. If it were any other way, people would see it as a military over running of government's process.

Your son was on leave and this would be a civil matter, but the USMC is probably helping the
Sheriff in this matter being that your son was still
in the US Military. Sorry for your loss!!
