I have been having pains in my lower left abdomen for about a month now. A week after they started I went to the doctor. They took blood and urine for testing and also took abdominal x-rays. They thought it may have been something with my kidney or my bladder. They found nothing wrong with the blood and urine, and did not see anything abnormal on the X-Ray. The doctor told me it was probably just a muscle strain. That was on Apr10

Now the pain has become more severe and has gotten higher too. I have also noticed some discomfort in my lower left back around the area of the kidneys. It isnt a sharp pain, more of a soreness with occasional pains. This symptom has been around for about a week.

I have also notice a recent loss in appetite, not being hungry very often, or after I eat I sometimes begin to have slight nausea.

Any ideas as to what this can be? I am going to the doctor in the morning, but I just want to know what may be causing this. IMaybe a Kidney stone?

Oh buddy!! Poor thing, sounds like constipation to me!! Make sure you are having at least 8 - 10 glasses of per day. Eliminate all sodas and soft drinks as they severely dehydrate you. Cut back on caffeine and tea as they will also dehydrate you. Increase your intake of foods rich in vitamin B6 also:

Brewer's yeast, wheat bran, wheat germ, liver, beef, liver, fish, soy beans, green leafy vegies, cantaloupe, cabbage, blackstrap mollasses (unsulphured), unmilled rice, eggs, oats, peanuts and walnuts.

B6 is a part of the B complex group of vitamins which are a water soluble group. We therefore need to replenish our bodies on a daily basis with ALL of the B vitamins - B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12.

Buy yourself some multi B complex vitamins from the chemist. Don't buy synthetic vitamins as they are real hard to digest. Just ask the pharmacist to recommend a good quality brand for you to buy with all the B group of vitamins contained therein. Expect to pay around $30.00AUD for about 125 tablets (about 4 months supply). Don't buy the B vitamins individually as they need each other to work properly.

Vitamin B6 is essential for the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, without it you won't be digesting very much food!! It is also essential in the production of magnesium (the anti stress mineral), for the proper absorption of vitamin B12 and for the production of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine ( the natural feel good drugs) in the brain!! Go B6 foods!! Good mood enhancers hey??!!

B12 deficiency will produce symptoms of nausea and vomiting, constipation, insomnia, depression, irritability, moodiness, inability to think clearly, dizziness, numbness and tingling and prickling in the outer extremities (hands and arms and legs and feet), head and hand sweats and fatigue and exhaustion, headaches and migraines and even chest pains and heart palpitations!! Not real nice hey?!!

Vitamin B12 will be included in the multi B complex tablet that you get. They usuall label them Mega B complex tablets or Executive Stress B tablets. Blackmores have a really good selection. Hey, cheer up, betcha I'm right !! Everybody slacks off on their diets now and again. My 3 kids are always ditching their school lunches for the junk food they can buy at school!! Inevitably, when they have nausea, tummy ache, constipation, can't sleep, can't be bothered doing anything its because they haven't been getting all the vitamins they really do need!! The best part is that as soon as you correct the nutritional deficiency your symptoms will disappear rapidly!!

Also, go buy yourself some organic flaxseeds (yes, organic cos the commercial stuff is too processed) and put 2 - 3 tablespoons full into a mug and fill with hot water. Leave to stand overnight and in the morning strain off the liquid and drink it!! This will bring enormous relief for you if you are in actual fact constipated!!

Cheers & Good Health 2 U

I have a feeling that it could be a Urinary Tract Infection. I had one awhile back, and I had most, if not all of your symptoms that you described. I suggest you go to a doctor and have a Urine Test done, if you have a Urinary Tract Infection you will most likely recieve anti-biotics.

Remember, you must treat this promptly, because it may have spreaded to your kidneys if it has been this long. They may also need to do more blood work. I had to do both blood, urine, and an ultrasound on my kidneys, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, appendix.

I really hope you get better soon, because going through this is certainly no fun!

To the person who said it could be appendicitis.. it is not. Appendicitis is on the right side of your lower abdomen.

You need an ultrasound to rule out Hernia, a CT scan would be useful too.
