I am a born again Christian myself, but I am a little confused. God wants us to be happy, but will he only give us what we need, and not what we want? Even if I worked hard for it, but I don't need it, but I pray everyday and ask in faith, will he give it to me, even if it is not a necessity? I know you will say it depends on what it is, so I am talking about meeting someone.

Timing is everything.
It will happen when you least expect it and it will be the right time at the right place, believe me.
If you got everything you wanted when you wanted, the real joy of the gift would not be sensational, just ordinary.
Been there done that.

God will provide for all of your needs that doesn't mean that He won't bless you with riches. There are many christians who are wealthy. At they same time they are humble and love the Lord. They share with others. I have all I need but I never have a lot of money. I think God knows that I'm not a good stewart, I don't manage it wisely. When I do, things could change for the better. And so it is with everything. We may pray for a spouse and wait for a long time or meet that person real soon. I know of a wonderful lady who was single until she was in her early fifties. She shone with God's love. But, she wanted to be married and had prayed about it for all those years. One day, a widower walked into her place of business and the rest is history. I've never seen a more happy couple. Whatever you have, praise God for it and be content.

I think if you pray about it and that he is the right one then he will provide. When I was about 16 I was not saved yet but, I was going to church and I did believe.Well, any way I prayed Dear Lord please send someone or let me meet someone who will be good to me and provide a good future and a couple of days later I met this guy and we were going together about a month and he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes and here we are ten years later with two kids and of course because of him and by the grace of God I was saved and this was about a few months after we got married. When we were dating he would come and pick me up on Sundays to take me to church eventhough he lived about 20 min. away from me and the church was about an hour away from me so yes if that is what he has plan for you and you pray about it then yes he will answer your prayer he did mine and I was 16 at the time. I still graduated high school while married. I mean if he doesn't answer you about that certain guy then it must not have meant to be and then start praying that God will send you the right person to spend the rest of your life with so be patient and good luck to you.I hope this will give you some inspiration.

You were already given everything you wanted, by being born into a physical body and aloud to act by your own free will. God in his mercy teaches prophets so that the scriptures are made for those whom wish to learn whom they really are, and what is their real purpose in serving God.

As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change. Happiness and sadness are transitory, and part of the material body, not the soul. You eat ice cream, you feel good for a minute or two. You have a competition win, and the feeling is good. You have a relative die, and the feeling is bad. All these things pass like the waves upon the beach. Still the sand remains.

I prayed really hard for my marriage to work and it didnt but I know God has something better for me...sometimes the answer to prayer is no.....God causes all things for good and even if we dont see it His bigger picture and plan are better. Pray that His will be done and keep praying... I know Joseph was in Jail for 13 yrs and during those 13 yrs he probably prayed to get out, probabably by year 4 he was getting discouraged too. He made the best out of his situation during that time...there are missionaries who are persecuted and then help others to Christ in jail....when you are without something you have hope and faith, let this hope and faith grow and become something for God....dont worry about your wants....Pslam 23 says, I shall not want...Its hard for me to watch evil people prosper and for other Christians to get what I think they dont deserve but its a sin of envy and jealousy and I have to repent and realize that one day they could lose all of it.... Last month I was angry at a woman at church who got her rent paid and then after I told someone else about my anger because I would never ask for help on that....the woman I was angry with went to the hospital for an emergency operation and I felt bad for what I thought.... God is in control and we should have "JOY" which is not the same as happiness...it comes from knowing God is for you and you praise and love Him in any situation. God bless, sorry for the llength of this.

I am not a born-again Christian but I do believe in Christ so I am a Christian. Anyway I understand what you are talking about. I went through the same situation you are in several times. I always pray for someone to be my bf and when it turns out that I am going to lose him I get so mad with God and I stop going to church and stop praying. Months or years later I get the answer why He let me lose him. This would go on for several times; the finding and losing of a loved one. I felt like He just wants me to be miserable. Then through time I understood why it all happened. I understood because I always looked back and analyzed the events of my life. So to cut the story short, things happen for a reason and God indeed knows what's best for us and when He lets things happen, He alone knows that it is for our own good so all we can do is to trust in His goodness and mercy.

Keep praying, no prayer is ever wasted. Ever.

However, what if what you think will make you happy really really doesn't. You think you know what's best for you. You think this thing will make you happy... But happiness does not come from things, or people, or geography.

So, when you are praying for happiness, maybe God will say "yes" by giving you wisdom. In your wisdom you will understand enlightenment. Your prayers lead you to truth, to love and to relish everything in the world that is beautiful. Then your soul will be filled and you will be happy. This is how God answers prayer.

Just remember God has a PLAN specifically for YOU! Let's just say for example that you want a new house. And you pray and pray. And so far no new house. But then you get an incredible job offer making $40,000.00 more than you were making before...
God will definitely give you 10 fold back of what you give him. How much are you giving him lately?
His blessings and his plan will be shown to you... in time.

Well, yeah, it does depend a lot on what it is. In this case I would say that sooner or later if it's meant to be then it will happen. Don't be impatient. Try to not worry about it. Great things take time. Was Rome built in one day? Nopperz! :D Just think about that....hopefully you will find happiness soon. I will pray for you.

God will answer all righteous prayers. Now to as if this is a righteous prayer I have know Idea. If God feels like you will gain from this experience then keep you hopes up. God will not answer this prayer if you are wanting to meet this person for the wrong reason or if it would be on no avail to you. I wish you the best of luck.
