***Serious Question*** (Please dont start cussing me out...lol) Okay... I grew up in the church, southern baptist, my grandfather was the pastor.... you know when I was little I didnt really pay much attention, i just sat there every sunday and doodled on the offering envelopes. But as I grew older I noticed that all of these so called "christian" people. These people that are supposed to be so loving and caring are judging people they dont even know because of the fact they have tattoos and smoke, people that dont come to church every sunday, and people with less money. Talking junk about people sitting in sunday school class..?? Now I know not everyone is like that, i know. But A LOT are. And since when were people getting sent to hell for not showing up every sunday. Well needless to say im not a christian, not just cause of that, cause I have other beliefs... but its annoying... is anyone with me on this??

I'm Sorry for this life experience.
And even more sorry that you've turned your back on God.

But I am perhaps most sorry that you would let a simple common hypocrite keep you out of Heaven.

But hey, I suppose you think there won't be any hypocrites in Hell?
Take a stand! Read the Book and learn for yourself about
Heaven and how to go there.
Otherwise you won't have to change a thing to go to Hell.

Sure its annoying, but that's not why Christians are dangerous.
Take a look at Islam, they have basically the same ideas that Christians do and terrorists are almost always "doing it for God," why must people believe in a higher power? Isn't the SUN powerful enough? Why would a higher power even CARE if you had tattoos or smoked, or for that matter raped and killed a hundred people? THEY'RE A HIGHER POWER. Animals commit violent acts on one another daily, wouldn't God be like we are towards such things? Are we very concerned when a chicken eats a worm? Why does God always need money? And why are Christians working to bring on the end of the world instead of trying to make the world a better place?

on the other hand... i attend a church where the situation described does happen but a lot less so...

the people i attend church with are very open, loving and caring to anyone that steps in the door. it is also a baptist church.

the problem is: many people follow the actions of others. for instance, the church you describe may have, at one point, been very open, loving and caring. however, one person who isn't open, loving and caring turned into two, twenty and then a hundred people. pretty soon, the majority of the people are gossiping and not caring for the Word of God. the church has lost its way. either find a new one or set out to change what's happening there. maybe God wants you to speak out against them. pray and ask God to help you find out what He wants you to do.

I am right there with you. It's interesting to believe what you are told as a child and then grow up and discover these contraditions of character one by one. A shining example I remember was when I got a job at a video store near the church I attended. I ran a list of the dirtiest movies we carried and checked the history logs to see who had rented them. I was surprised to find that every respected male in my church who had an account at that store had rented most if not all of the dirty movies, even two of the church elders! I had to stop attending the church after that because I could not look these men in the eye without wanting to call them out. I could not even look at their families without thinking how horrified they would be if I read them the titles of the movies Daddy had rented. And that's just crappy movies from a smalltime video store. There's no telling what other ungodly things these respected and righteous men were dipping their fingers in.

Since you left the fellowship why do you care? No spite, just curious? True the Bible says no tattoos, cussing, and gossip, but smoking is not among them.

Do not worry though the ones you speak of will most likely not make the heavenly cut. The ones that do will be held accountable for these actions you cite.

People will not be thrown to hell for Sunday attendance. They will be judged by a just God and sent where their actions dictate.

Showing up on every Sunday doesn't give you a pardon from God.

Niether does millions of good works...

It is by Grace that we are saved, through Christ alone... that we can see God.

Stereotyping most Christians as hipocrites is unfair... just because there are a few unfaithful Christians attending A church.

Because I am a caring person that trys to follow Christ...

but that is irrelevent to your question I guess... since you posted it to get abunch of "amens" and anti-Christian slurs.

God bless you and yours.

Of course, there are all sorts of churches, and many look at themselves much like the Pharisees did during the time of Christ. Remember the parable of the Good Samaritan? The Samaritan to the Jew was like the absolute scum of the earth. Yet not the priest, scribe or lawyer would help a man in need. But the Samaritan did.
What about the Parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector? Can you think of anyone a Jew hated more than a Rome-toady that took their money? Yet Jesus illustrated it this way,

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” - Luke 18:10-14

But to see how Jesus views the seven major church eras and how they score, read this...

This puts you in the category of a bigot who is judging based on a stereotype. There are a billion Christians in the world. White, black, red, Asian every ethnic background in every nation. The bible even says those who say they believe may be lying. Did you know there a hypocrite Muslims, Jews, agnostics, atheists. You are obviously immature and unable to see people for what they are because you are too busy looking at what they are not. You are entitled to your opinion, but have one that is based in reality, and if you have some time, learn to spell.

I am a Christian. And I agree w/ you, it is very annoying to see people like that. Not all are, like you said, but there are a lot. But I have never heard of anyone getting sent to hell by another human being. That's ridiculous. Only God knows what is in our hearts.

I am sorry you had to grow up seeing these people constantly judging everyone. Moreso b/c it was one of the things that led you astray form Christ. I hope you find Him.

God bless you.

You are right, not every one is like that and not every one is 'perfect' either. If you have gone to a church that says you are going to hell for not attending church, then that is totally wrong. There are many people of a different religion who meet in their homes for worship or study because there is not a place for them to attend in their area.

The people you could be talking about are human beings like you and they make mistakes like you. It could be many reasons to why people act like that, you just don't know what background they have come from, you don't know if they are new believers etc..... but, we are all God's children and we should all love eachother because that's what He tells us to do.

The only thing you can do is to stay away from people like that for awhile and you set that example on doing what God wants you to do.
