Not sure that I understand the question.... but 40 year old Mercedes are rare unless you have loads of money... so if it was mine I would be keeping it.

There are a couple little sexy cars. You can get a BMW 3 series which come in coupes, convertibles, and four doors. The base price of this car is 32400 American Dollars. There is also the Mercedes SLK 280 which is a small sexy convertible. This starts at 44125 American Dollars. Maybe he would even be intersted in the Infiniti G35 coupe or 4 door. This starts at 33450 American Dollars.
Good Luck

Some guys are like this. My best friend will driving nothing but 60's vintage Mustangs. He's got 4 of them. Only 1 is actually driveable and actually looks pretty good, though not yet full restored and it's mechanically unreliable. He generally has 1 near driveability (the deathmobile as I call it), which looks and sounds awful, but somehow runs some of the time. The other 2 are for parts, and his eventual goal of restoring them, although he hasn't in 20 years.

When one breaks down, he fixes whichever one is easiest, and then starts driving that one.

I've suggested to my friend for those 20 years to sell all but one and just fix that one up really good. It's an obsession. Just let your brother enjoy his obsession. As far as obsessions go, it's not a bad one.
