i heard you can't, but i think that was said on a cartoon like 7 years ago, lol. anyway, i have felt pain in my dreams, but i dont think it was me hurting myself in real life. can you feel pain in dreams without hurting yourself in real life, or was i probably just hurting myself in my sleep?

Pain in dreams is an interesting phenomenon. Sometimes, a peculiar sleeping position becomes the trigger event for a painful dream. It's the body's way of saying, "Hey stupid, roll over." However, the ability of the brain to produce physical stimuli that match the dream event is an amazing thing. It makes dreams that are emotionally realistic even more real.

Often, the pain sensation is related to a particular facet of body awareness or relationship disparity. Nowhere is this more apparent than in dreams of injury, infection, and amputation where physical sensations accompany visual images. Try to recall where the pain was centered, and relate that body part to aspects of your life that are applicable.

Pain is your brain telling you that something is hurting your body. In a dream your brain is doing the same thing... because of the content of the dream instead of reality.

I once had a dream a loved one died, I was hurting so much. It wasn't physical just a dream where I felt the emotion of losing a loved one.

I've felt pain in my dream, but I know I wasn't hurting myself physically. Pain is caused by your brain so I don't see why you can't have pain in your dreams.

I do experience a sense of urgency that makes me wake up. Then I wake up to anxiety, often followed by a panic attack.
Good thing that doesn't happen often.
