if so, are they plastic, hardwood or aluminium?

Only aircraft that are designed to fly above 10,000 feet have two windows double-glazed like. This is because they need to hold in the cabin air when high. The inner one on a jetliner also stops misting up so we can see the world is not flat.

Smaller unpressurised planes have single windows made of plastic. This gets scratched over the years and when you are flying into the sun you can't see a damned thing and so have to fly on instruments alone.

I am a girl and a general aviation pilot and I don't think you should take any notice of male chauvinist piggies who think you should ask about sewing. (Nothing wrong with sewing anyway.)

Yes and no there are 2 panes of perspex 1 is structural the other is for pressurisation. Cockpit windows are layers of glass and plastic(vinyl or acrylic) with very thin coat of gold film between. the glass plastic is normally 1 inch thick and provides impact resistance with clarity, the gold film is for heating the window allowing the window not to become brittle in the cold temperatures. It also prevents ice forming and misting. On light aircraft there is only one pane.

Triple glazed in fact. The outer is the strength layer, the next has a tiny hole in it to equalise the pressure, and there's an internal shield layer to stop the passengers touching the real windows.

Yes, windows are double-glazed. They are made with hard plastic.

Yes, they are double glazed, to stop gremlins from getting inside the 'plane.
