They told me that no other insurer would grant me a policy either. If I had known this would have happened, I wouldn't have gone in for treatment, or would have lied about the severity of my depression. How can this be legal?

I should have stated that this was a private insurance that my employer was paying for. I didn't even think of social security. I guess I never trusted that it would be there for me when I needed it. Now it looks like I have no option but SS.

This is horrible Brad. Try asking this question in insurance forum. Go to business and finance first. Then insurance, and see if someone there can better help you.
I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I have depression also, I understand.

Brad I was turned down too the first time. I had to get a lawyer that handles disability. I suffer fro depression and anxiety and panic disorders. i had to wait for them to sit up a hearing with a social security judge. This took three years just tp get the hearing. I don't know what state you live in but you could get your early. Also if you get a lawyer let him or her know all the doctors you have seen for this. Its really in your best interest to get a lawyer, Good Luck

BRAD,
IF YOU CONTACTED THE SOCIAL SECURITY DEPARTMENT AND WERE TURNED DOWN, THEN HAVE YOUR DOCTOR SUBMIT YOUR CASE HISTORY IN DETAIL TO THEM. YOU CAN CONTACT WWW.SSA.GOV
AND GET THE DETAILS ON HOW TO PROPERLY APPLY.
YOU CAN ALSO SPEAK TO AN ATTORNEY THAT SPECIALIZES IN DISABILITY.
