In a sense, isn't it the other way around? I mean, illegal immigrants march through the streets demanding equal rights, claiming that they've been "promised" to them. However, is it not true that these rights are granted to American citizens? I have absolutely nothing against anyone's race or ethnic background, but the idea of ANYONE immigrating illegally to America makes me quite angry. Also, why is it fair that illegal immigrants should just be granted equal rights when African Americans had to struggle and work so hard for SO many years?

I should also add, that I understand that those who come to this country are just trying to make better lives for themselves, but doesn't it kind of seem like they're skipping the hard work and moving straight to the benefit? If you want to make a better life, shouldn't you have to work really hard and wait for it?

I think that their may have been some misunderstanding...I never meant to intend that I thought that illegal immigrants were getting a "free ride" of any kind. I realize that there are many struggles and trials involved, and I can sympathize with that. But that doesn't mean that it's at the same level of difficulty as legal immigration is.

Well, calling someone "Ignorant" just because they disagree with something is hardly productive. (Proving them to be ignorant, on the other hand, is productive!)

I think you misunderstand the arguments for rights of the illegal immigrant, though.

We don't have rights in this country because we have been promised them. We have rights because it is assumed that ALL people have inalienable (incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred) rights.

As a result, various court decisions have decided that even illegal immigrants have certain rights, and that we as a nation are obliged to offer them.

It might be frustrating, but that's the price we pay for all this political and religious freedom.

And I think that's a great deal.

Without the number crunchers and all the other people that do the mental work in this nation ,the manual labors wouldn't be needed. We design and plan the buildings, shopping centers and homes that the laborers help construct. We make out the checks, draft the blueprints etc. Don't act like just because a person has gotten a good education that he/she doesn't work just as hard as others work. Mental work is as exhausting as digging a ditch. And a hell of a lot more stressful.

Now to answer the question. No illegal aliens do not deserve equal rights here in the USA .They need to go back to their own nation and try to enter legally or not at all. The only right they have here is the right to be deported in a humane way.

There are no jobs that Americans haven't done and will do again for a livable wage .That's just pro propaganda that the illegal aliens do the jobs Americans don't want. That's a lie. They just do the jobs for next to nothing.American workers cant live on that.

A large part of the world once belonged to other country's ,that's the past ,this is 2007 and this country,ALL of it ,belongs to the American people of the USA.

If these "Illegal immigrants" wanted citizenship so badly why are the marching through the streets Chanting "Viva La Mexico"? Waving that rediculous mexican flag. Shouldn't they be protesting for better rights in thier own country?
They want all the benefits of being in the US without having to pay for it. I would like to see the statistics of how many of these Illegal Immigrants have volunteered to pay US taxes, buy health insurance, or auto insurance. It's a joke. Just another example of how these people want but are not willing to give. America has always encouraged legal immigration. Even rewards it. But these people have spent genrations of screwing up their own country. Now they want to leach off this country.

I definately agree with you.

My father had to work really hard from his home country, earn enough, signed his documents, and had to wait several years before being approved to come to the U.S as a legal immigrant. He was finally able to come to U.S. but with us left back home in our home country since he did not have enough money for the rest of the family to come. What did he do then? He had to work in the U.S. for about a year before finally having enough for the rest of us to come. It was difficult but he had to do it due to how the system was made up.

Now since many of us have already did the legal process, I would not support illegal immigration, since many who have been a legal resident and became a citizen have gone through alot---worked hard and waited in line patiently. And illegals who march for rights is an insult to those that went the legal process.

to me, all of us, British or in any different case, who breaks the regulation don't have equivalent rights. unlawful immigrants are costing this united states billions and its the conventional working people who're paying the cost. unlawful immigrants must be despatched lower back the place they got here from it relatively is what could ensue in the different united states in the international different than Britain, it relatively is why maximum of them make a beeline for the united kingdom bypassing many different ecu international places on the way.

No I beg to differ. All the marching, discrimination, raids, and cheap labor that these immigrants go thru to make a better life is "the struggle". Wouldn't you say!!! Come to think of it, it is the same as the African Americans.

And if you understood the law not a lot of countries are offered the opportunity to immigrate with residence. There are a a lot of country exclude from the lottery process.

You say coming here illegally is the easy way.. well the facts are that they have to go throw hard work in this country too.. They are not sitting right now typing on a computer or something... they are probably working or resting because they just came from work... And get this they don't have to be citizens of this country to have rights because everyone has them.. If even a dog has rights and people protect them... THEY ARE HUMANS.. just like you and me... what police people did.. if they deserve to be call police... in California to the people is showing that they don't value their rights.. and a ignorant is also someone that with anger covers the real things.. because I know that in kindergartner you learn that everyone is equal.. or have you forget about that??.. answer it

I was brought here by my parents when I was 5. I marched on May 1st. I didn't go to demand anything. We HAVE BEEN promised by Bush, by our senators, by our alderman, by our representatives that they will do something to fix the immigration issues. When its election time, politicians promise to help out those of us who are here illegally. Yet when the time comes no one ever fights for our cause. I understand it makes you angry for people to come here illegally but it makes me angry that SOME people ARE ignorant and say we want free this and free that or that we demand things to be handed to us on a silve platter. That is not the case. If we enter this country is because we are hungry and we want to work to eat. Our countries are harder to fix so sometimes fixing a country like some people say we should is easier said than done. Hunger is greater than fear. But when you live in a place where all your politicians are corrupt and getting richer by the minute is hard to compete with them. Its not easy getting here I came here when I was only 5 yrs old and I hope nobody has to go through what I went through. It's scary crawling in the dirt, running, hiding, when your only crime is being hungry. Illegals like myself didn't come to this country to get a free piece of bread, we came to work for it. We do work hard, everything I have has been earned by working twice as hard. I contribute to this economy, I do pay taxes, I pay for my education, I pay for my hospital bills. Just like african americans struggle we are struggling and we don't expect to be "granted" rights just because we are illegal. We are working for those rights.

A large part of the Continental US was at one time part of Mexico and it seems many of them want it back and are actively trying to establish themselves here for many reasons including opportunity to do better at any cost.
