The Scilly islands are far enough into the gulf stream to have a subtropical climate, so there are palm trees there. They're about 25 miles off the SW coast.

Yes, the warm water currents which take water from the Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic coast push across the Atlantic Ocean and wind up in Britain. Any travel to Ireland and the British Isles will show you taht palm trees do exist! They are not native, but the area is warmer than it has any right to be from latitude alone.

Yes, Trachycarpus palms withstand temperatures down to 10 degrees F. They are found planted and growing outdoors in Scotland

Not growing naturally now, but there are probalby a few around..I know millions of years ago when Britain was in a more favourable climate (and position), palm trees did grow there (ie they have found pollen and fossils of plants there)...I don't know how long ago it was however.

There are in the west of scotland, where the gulf stream passes - I think in Ullapool.

They are date palms, not cocoanut palms

Not really, we get something on the west coast and the Isle of Man which my mother calls a Yucca which looks similar, we have one in our back garden.

not naturally - but there may be a few in special enclosed type areas - the weather is not condusive to them in the wild
