is it ok for my fiancee to eat quiche during her pregnancy as it contains egg and is a food that they advise to avoid unless cooked "properly".

i would have thought the "ready to eat" ones would be fine as they are cooked under strict controls at the factory but i just want to know if anyone knows for sure if it's safe.

ps:please don't say "ask your midwife" as i will be doing so, it's just she has a craving for quiche and i'm quite sure a lot of women can appreciate what i'm going through ha ha.

She can eat ANYTHING as long as it's not raw. As long as you are serving it to her fully cooked, it's perfectly ok. I had this issue w/sushi during my pregnancies and most people are ill informed that prego women cant eat it...but my MD said it was a-ok as long as it was COOKED! Knock yourself out! Best of luck to you, wife and baby!

The eggs in a quiche are completely cooked, just as they are in a cake, or a pudding. You only need to worry about eggs when they are not fully (which is what they mean by "properly") cooked.

If it's a quiche that's "ready to eat" & says that all you have to do is re-heat it (since it is pre-cooked), then, that means that the eggs are already properly cooked, so, it's ok for her to eat. :)

I think being cooked properly means not raw or runny because eggs can have salmonella, which is killed when they're cooked.

And quiche is cooked.

If this dish is made according to instructions, it is no different than eating a scrambled egg. Add some white chicken and green onions to it. Yum.

Yes. As long as you bake it thoroughly for homemade or follow the package directions precisely for store bought.
