I am old school I guess I prefer the XL for castability and strength so stick with the 12 pound
If I use over 20 pound test I use Trilene Big game

Mushroomhead fan is completely wrong about Cajun line. Cajun line works great. He just dont know when, how, and where to use it. This line works best it clearer water rather than stained. 12 lbs. test works great but anything between 8-20 lbs will do. You can buy this at any major store that has fishing equipment. I have had more sucess with this line than any other line. Trilene Maxx also is one of my favorites. I use 12 lb. test

MY FAVORITE IS MAXIMA GREEN LOW VIS LOW MEMORY, 10 OR 12 WHAT EVER YOU FEEL IS STRONG ENOUGH EVEN 6 IF YOU HAVE OPEN SPACE AROUND YOU, IF YOUR THROWING HEAVY JIGS GO WITH HEAVY LINE & VISE VERSA, LIGHTER LINE LIGHTER LURE. PRACTICE WITH ALL TO LEARN, NOTHING IS ABSOLUTE.
