A basic tenet of Christianity (esp. Catholicism) is that the body (flesh) will be resurrected when Jesus comes again. If I die when I'm 92 - do I have to have that wrinkly old and generally not-so-great body in heaven for all of eternity or can I go back to the body I had when I was 18???

You don't get to choose a body. A physical body is only needed while on the physical plane. You will not have a body when you leave the physical plane (Earth).

Matthew 22:29-30 KJV
(29) Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
(30) For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:51-54 KJV
(51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
(54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

I doubt if we will care much about how we look because we will be with the Lord, But who knows what we will have a choice of. Our bodies will be changed and we will be known as we are known.

Okay, in the Bible it says we will all have new bodies....and there will be no age. There will be no female and male. There will be no such thing as young and old.....We willl just have a new body. We can't think past female and male and young and old and age. Because we are humans thats all we have ever known...but God is not human and He knows so much more....I dont see how we wont be female or male.....but we will be neither....God says so. There will also be no age. So you wont have your old wrinkly body.....unless God says for u to have it...but there will be no ugliness or sadness in Heaven so don't worry about it.

Flesh can't enter the kingdom of heaven.

1Cr 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

But our "Spiritually bodies" were all made at the same time, so we are all the same age-young.

Churches that teach that the "fleshly body" resurrects are false teachers. Our flesh goes back to dirt.

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Its just our Spiritual bodies that go back to GOD on death of the Flesh.

Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Those who make it to heaven will be given new incorruptible spirit bodies a million times better than these flesh bodies could ever be and the new body will never get sick, tired, need sleep, or die.

How old was Jesus when He was resurrected? I suspect, since the Bible says we shall be like Him, that we'll be around that age. What if we die beforehand? Remember that God knew us even before we were born. Physical aging will not play a part in our glorified body. We will still be like Him!

Psalms 37:29 " The righteous themselves will possess the earth,And they will reside forever upon it."

You dont have to. You can live forever here on earth with a good perfect body.

Psalms 37:34 " Hope in Jehovah and keep his way,
And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth.
When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it]."

Psalms 37:37-38 "37 Watch the blameless one and keep the upright one in sight,
For the future of [that] man will be peaceful.
38 But the transgressors themselves will certainly be annihilated together; The future of wicked people will indeed be cut off."

When we stand whole before Christ; spirit, soul & body; our body is recognizable as to who we were on earth. Only there will be no blemishes or wrinkles or lumps, etc. We will be perfect. An everlasting body, soul & spirit.

The problem with our current bodies & why we might not be happy when looking in the mirror is becaus of conscequences of sin in our bodies. Every bodies current body dies. And our old persons body isn't going to be our glorified body. Your glorified body is going to be much better than when you were 18.

I just read this verse this morning: 1 JOHN 3:2-3. We will
be like him and probably 33 years old and a beautiful glorified
body like His. We will have flesh, bone and glory in our veins.
Gloriously sons of God! Our minds can't wrap around how
wonderful it will be!

Read 1 Corinthians 16:51-54.
You will find that you will no longer be in your earthly body, but an incorruptible one.
