I think it all goes back to the "cultural thing". Everything can be traced back to a societal/anthropological perspective. Most men prefer younger women with an hour glass shape. This is because the younger a women is, the more likely she is to be fertile, making it more likely that she can bear his offspring. Large breasts and hips symbolize fertility to the cave-person deep inside all of us.
On the flip side, and most women prefer an older man who is well built (not necessarly the size of his penis). This is because an older man can provide stability and in tribal cultures, he probably has a better social status (he is more likely to be the Alpha Male). That indicates stability and prosperity...all of which will provide a better life for her offspring, giving it a better chance of survival).
People have preferred various weights throughout history. For example, in the middle ages men preferred women who were overweight because it was a sign that she was healthy, & ate well. If she ate well, she must have had the money to do so (b/c they didn't have a $1 menu ;P ). Money (as we all know) is attractive to both sexes. Money=healthy =good offspring. They would've looked at Kate Moss like she was garbage, because skinny meant poor, meant unhealthy...bad for survival.
I think that we as women often put way more pressure on ourselves than we need to. Most me I know prefer women with hips as opposed to a waif. They prefer women who are built like women, not 9 year old girls. I know a few guys whose porn stash features mostly overweight women).
And if a woman dates a man b/c she thinks he has a big penis she is ignorant. Trust me I have been w/ large & small...sometimes it can be too big, and whats fun about that? (Unless your into S&M, but I won't go there). The best sex is with somebody who is your mental equal, not physical. Sure you can have hot 1-night stands, but when you make love with a man who may not look like George Clooney, but gets you for who you are...it will blow your mind (& Clooney out of the water).
It takes all kinds to make the world turn (or the bedroom)...in my experiance, there is nothing sexier than confidence. Be proud of yourself, the rest will just follow.

The societal taboo regarding men's penis sizes is almost entirely within the males' own imaginations. The same isn't true to the same degree for female body image, where the taboo of being overweight is a very real social phenomenon. Men are generally less attracted to overweight women because of multiple factors, and those findings are well-documented. Men are just making themselves crazy with penis-obsession. It doesn't manifest much in society apart from Viagra spam email. Male body image is a larger societal issue for men, but probably not to the same degree as it is for women.

OK. Here are some issues, all of which are not necessarily equals. Some issues are more prominent than others. Well, somebody mentioned the circumcision issue. For american men as well as boys born into muslim, jewish etc. families, this is a serious concern and a potential human rights violation. The penis size issue. Often discussed and ridiculed in the media. Muscles. The average man is not born muscular. He needs to train hard and eat hard to gain muscle which just about inevitably causes fat gain so there is a compromise. Dieting is in order then to get the perfect look. Height. Women can be short or tall and be held as sex symbols. For men, large size is more important or downright required. There's also the perception that male bodies are just generally more unsightly and less graceful or even intimidating. Men who take up graceful sports are often stigmatized if not outright banned and perhaps told that men cannot do certain types of gymnastics or dance etc. because they are perceived 'feminine' movements or that men are supposed to not have the flexibility. The latter is a half-truth in that it is harder for men to develop flexibility but there are men who have achieved or were born with mobility similar to that of the female greats of rhytmic gymnastics. Male genital injuries, violence against them and the general vulnerability/sensitivity of the male genitals is often depicted comically or scathingly in many medias as if to imply that males should be embarrassed about being built a certain way. The overall fragility of the female is, in my opinion, hardly ever ridiculed or magnified in the same way although women have their own issues.

Yes there are many different men in this world that think plus size women are beautiful. Getting a man to say a plus sized lady is attractive is a completely different thing. Guys won't admit that they find big ladies sexy in fear of being made fun of.
And the issue most of the time isn't how the man feels about the lady, but how the lady feels about herself. If you are confident and it shows people like that and want to be around you. No matter how big or little you are.

Such a complicated question, and in all honestly, you answered it as you asked it.
It is more of an issue for woman, on a daily basis, because their weight is always visible. However, it's an issue for men, but possibly not quite as much. Yet, if they're good looking man, but with a size issue, it's probably something they battle with emotionally almost every chance they have time to think.
Does any of that make sense? Basically you answered your own questions anyways.
Best of luck.

Everyone is attracted to different people. I think it truly is a personal choice. I know a few men who love overweight women, and prefer them not only in bed, but also in relationships. But the stereiotipical man does love a thin tight woman. It all depends hun.

"Men" do not like or dislike anything. Men are not all alike. Some men only like hard bodied girls and some men prefer a little more meat on the bones. Some guys out and out prefer big fat girls. It is an individual thing, as well as a cultural thing. Our culture tends to glorify the slender female (and the buffed, muscular male) but lots of individuals differ.

Everyone is attracted to something different. So there are men that like bigger girls and there are ones that don't. And it's definetly more a female thing then a male thing because ours is much more noticeable

i think its more of a problem for women because their weight is constantly being shown. and men don't have to show their penis until they are very, very intimate with a woman so they don't even have to worry about most the time
