That must be a tight budget, what does a used 2002 Accent cost now $3500 for one in good shape? Make sure the car passes inspection and have it checked by a mechanic for potential future problems before making any used car purchase regardless of brand. The Accent itself is certainly a decent car and great for those just starting to drive and on a budget.

I had a 2000 accent for about 6 years. It is what it is, a very cheap car. It served its purpose. Put on 80-90k miles. Never any major repairs. I am suspecting that if I didnt get rid of it when I did, it would have started to have problems.

02 Accent is a pretty decent car, remember to change timing belt at 60K miles. If car has more than 60K, try to find out if belt has been changed. Replacing timing belt BEFORE it breaks...$400. AFTER it breaks...$2000.
