AMEN!!!

Granted, I believe in spanking as a last resort, but if more children were spanked when they misbehaved instead of parents trying to "buy / bribe" them, we would NOT have the over-abundance of self-centered, disrespectful young adults that exist in today's society. I know PLENTY of people who were spanked - myself included - (and there IS a difference between spanking and abuse/ beatings) and they are just fine emotionally!! Not only are they fine emotionally, they APPRECIATE the fact that their parents loved them enough to carry out the discipline they deserved! I rarely needed to spank my children (or any other child that has ever been in my care) because time-outs or revoking privileges worked most of the time; but when a spanking was called for, it was done with an open hand on the bottom only.

GOD is my ultimate authority / judge, and HE says to punish a rebellious child with a spanking.

I think it so ridiculous that some Doctor started saying spanking cause emotional problems.. What a crock!!!
The fact kids don't get a swat now a days because someone said it's unhealthy is just stupid!
A swat on the *** never hurt anyone enough to make them unstable and to say so is just so stupid is beyond words...
I grew up in a time when it was still o.k. to tan your kids *** once in a while and not one person I know from that time period is in a loony bin because of this. (None are actually in loony bins..as of yet)

I think it depends on how, when and where children are spanked. Done properly, as a last resort, spanking can be productive. Considering how a lot of kids are disciplined and I can understand why so many are against spanking. My grandchildren are made to stretch across the bed and if they cry out or move at all, the spank starts over. My grandson has been bruised severly before. His stepfather told my grandson that he would treat him the same way the former was treated by his father. The cycle continues.

I was spanked alot growing up- I am not in a loony bin, but very well behaved and I obey laws and have very excellent morals and values. More than I can say for most of the kids today! UGH!

Exactly! Kids have been spanked for generations, why would this just start now!? I think a spanking is truly deserved once in a while. You better off being disciplined then being allowed to go crazy. there is a major difference.

people don't believe that spankings are proper because they promote invading someone else's physical being, and also they promote violence.

but my mother used to give me a couple old fashioned whacks in the but (and she didn't try to kill me with them), and it DID get me moving.

i think that spankings are passe` because so many people spank their kids when their emotions are out of control, and the punishment can go from a few whacks on the behind, to blatent physical abuse (bruises, cuts, broken bones and even death)... some people don't know where to draw the line....

i think there are other ways to discipline.

perhaps my issues being LOONY BINS is the result of getting whacked !

Would you rather them be in jail or dead- just becase no one ever enforced right from wrong?

I would think Jail or dead is a worse feat than the momentary pain of a spanking...

Spanking doesn't cause emotional problems. Allowing your children to run amok will though.

Exactly. I think spanking is perfectly fine, when it's truly deserved.
